Editorial Reviews

From Barnes & Noble
The Barnes & Noble Review
Tucker Coulter, the only unmarried one of the six Coulter children, falls late but hard in this contemporary romance by bestselling author Catherine Anderson.

Tucker and rancher Samantha Harrigan meet cute at the rodeo, when Samantha faces off against a man twice her size who is abusing a horse; they both get arrested, and his nose is broken. Next Samantha's champion quarter horses are falling ill, and the expert is called in -- local vet Tucker Coulter. Tucker boards her sickest horse at his place, and their romance starts to take off. Much as Tucker believes in Samantha, when her horses start getting sick, some think Samantha herself is doing it for the insurance money. In fact, Tucker has a duty to report any suspicions, but it's a lose-lose proposition. If he doesn't, it injures his professional reputation; if he does, it wrecks his romance with Samantha. The only way out is to catch the real offender -- quickly. As her readers have come to expect, Anderson's romances are absorbing family-oriented dramas, and this one is no exception. Ginger Curwen
Publishers Weekly
One need not be an equine lover to appreciate Anderson's sweet contemporary romance centering on fiercely honest horse rancher Samantha Harrigan and handsome neophyte veterinarian Tucker Coulter, who meet while trying to protect a horse from its abusive owner. Samantha has always cared deeply for her horses, so when they suddenly fall ill, she's distraught; when it turns out they've been poisoned, she's horrified, immediately suspecting that her violent and vindictive ex-husband is the culprit. Unfortunately, the authorities are pointing fingers at Samantha, alleging that she plans to defraud her insurance company. Wary of letting a new man into her life, Samantha nevertheless recognizes that she must call on Tucker to nurse her horses back to health. As he tends to the horses and grows closer to Samantha, Tucker becomes her confidante and champion, realizing that the only way for Samantha to save herself is to catch the offender before the police arrest her. In Samantha, Anderson has created a strong and gentle heroine, and a cast of family and friends proves charming throughout. This smart, wholesome tale should appeal to any fan of traditional romance. Meet the Author

Catherine Anderson lives in the Oregon mountains with her husband and her Rottweilers, Sam and Sassy, who seem convinced that they are teacup poodles and that obedience training is for people. Catherine spends leisure time with her family and friends, including her sons and daughter-in-law, often discussing intriguing story twists for her books. Such talks can draw curious stares if they happen to take place in a restaurant and involve plotting the demise of a fictitious villain.

An award-winning author of twenty published works, Catherine is currently working on her next full-length romance for Onyx.

If you've never read a Catherine Anderson, you could start with this one!!!!

The Kendrick Coulter series is, by far, the best of the best!!! I started in the middle, with this one, and purchased previous books to better acquaint myself with her and then purchased the following books to finish the series. I am overwhelmed each time I read her books. She is tender, romantic, exciting, terribly funny, and sexy -------- all at the same time. It just works!!!! If you've never read a Catherine Anderson, and there are many, just pick one up. You will be hooked. I just keep waiting for more!!!!!!!!!

    I Also Recommend:

While good, it wasn't the best Catherine Anderson.

This addition to the Coulter family was good, something just didn't jump-start my heart like the others. Maybe it was Samantha herself. Something about her just didn't allow me to like her immediately. Tucker, being a typical Coulter seemed to do all of the right things, but still something was missing. With that said, the book still had good story-line and even a bit of drama and thrill. It's worth the read.

    Awesomest

This book is was the bomb! When I read about a Samantha who tried to save a horse and ends up getting beaten by a drunk, I thought that was horrible. Until Tucker came to save her and ends up with a broken nose. And then there's her ex-husband who beated her and she divorced, Steve promises to have revenge by poisoning her horses who were dear to her and kills a baby horse and the mama. Tucker was able to help with the poisoned horses, but couldn't help the baby horse or the mama. It's a sad tragic. Until the romance blossoms and they fall head over heels in love. Then Steve ended up at her ranch to kill her. But Tucker was there to help and love her. I absolutely love this book.I loved it and so will you.

    Left me wanting another story.

I had so hoped for Tucker's story to be as captivating as the other Coulter stories. In some ways the story of Tucker and Samantha had pizzaz but it seemed lacking in others. Samantha's uppity attitude at the beginning just didn't endear her to me. The character only seemed to be working with herself. There didn't seem to be a lot of chemistry between Tucker and Samantha. Not the kind that keeps you cheering and turning pages.

    Eh..

Honestly after reading this book i was quite disappointing. I loved all of Catherine Anderson books, but this one didnt hit the spot. It feels like she spended too much time talking about the horse and too little on the relationship.

A Very Good Way To Spend The Weekend!

I really liked this book. I love the whole series and I don't get why people are disappointed in this book. I saw through the plot fairly quickly but I enjoyed the book all the way through. All in all it was a Great way to spend a snowy weekend. Thank you Mrs. Anderson!

    enthralling

This was a really good book. I've read nearly every one of Catherine Anderson's novels, and this one is probably in my top three (1st being My Sunshine, 2nd being Only by Your Touch). I've never really been that interested in horses or rodeos or anything like that, but this book kept me thoroughly entranced throughout and gave me a greater appreciation for equines. The only thing that bugged me was that it was too predictable-- from the very beginning I knew who the culprit was and why they did it. I'm usually not good at guessing these kinds of things, so that shows how obvious it was. If you're looking for a book that will keep you guessing and shocked, don't pick this one. If you're looking for an enjoyable read full of romance and horses, this is the one for you. But I'd still recommend it to just about anyone.

    I loved this book!

I enjoyed the entire book. Especially the large families on both sides and their views. I thought it was well worth reading. In fact I had a hard time putting it down especially towards the end.

    Very disappointing...

The premise, while promising, fell flat: with characters that were surprisingly immature and one-dimensional, predictable events, a frustratingly effeminate male lead, and third-rate dialogue (being generous). This book (as opposed to others in the series) was difficult to feel any relatable heart/soul behind the characters and their relationships. Coulter family interaction seemed ingenuine and inconsistent with other books in series.

    sorely disappointed

As an avid reader and fan of Ms. Anderson's work I found this book a sore disappointment. This book contained way to much information about the effects of drugs on horses and not enough information on the people this story was built around. This book does not measure up to Ms. Anderson's previous works.

    Disappointing!

I waited a long time for the last Coulter book to come out and I'm sorry to say that I was really disappointed. The main characters didn't have any real depth or personality. The other books in the series brought in all of the other wonderful family members, tied the series together, and involved you emotionally. As I read the book, I kept waiting for that and it never happened.

Definitely not one of her best....

I love most of Catherine Anderson's books. I have read many of them several times and 'My Sunshine' was one of my favorites so I was really looking forward to this book. I was very disappointed with 'Summer Breeze' but figured the last Coulter book would be great. Instead, I ended up skimming through most of this book just to get to the end. The characters fell really flat and the whole thing just felt forced. The heroines in her last two books just have not been likeable at all. I also found everyone's decision to become good Catholics at the end of the book really odd.
