Editorial Reviews

From Barnes & Noble
The Barnes & Noble Review
Legends, curses, and dreams-come-true are at the heart of Linda Winstead Jomes's magical romance, The Sun Witch, the first in her Sisters of the Sun trilogy, set in a fantasy-tinged medieval time. The Fyne sisters have inherited a family curse that kills their true loves before they reach the tender age of 30; thoughtfully, Sophie's sisters have stayed celibate. But Sophie, the youngest, has other ideas. When she briefly rescues a green-eyed stranger, Kane, from the ravages of war, Sophie determines to introduce herself to the delights of love, even if she never marries. A year later, Kane at last finds Sophie, determined to talk her into marriage, but when a spurned suitor captures their baby girl, both Sophie and Kane must fight to regain their child -- and their happiness. Entertaining fantasy

In Colubyana, the Fyne witch rejected the wizard making him so angry he cursed the Fyne women so that their love will always die. Over the next three centuries any Fyne witch who married for love watched either their mate die young or ultimately hate them. Of the three current generations of Fyne siblings, the oldest Isadore watched her spouse die as he neared his thirtieth birthday. She and her sisters vow to never marry or fall in love. Still the youngest Sophie plans to enjoy men............................. After watching his brother die and their cause fail against the emperor¿s army, rebel Kane Varden wants to die until he meets Sophie. They make love and she leaves him with a spell of good luck. Over the next year Kane wanders the empire with success in cards and women, but never forgot Sophie. He travels to find her and see the woman of his dreams holding their infant daughter. He wants both in his life, but she fears the Fyne curse................................ This entertaining fantasy romance will elate readers with the troubles that affection causes for anyone foolish enough to fall in love with a Fyne witch. The fast-paced story line moves forward rather quickly due to the lead couple as Kane wants to press his luck by risking his life in his love for Sophie who fears he will die if she allows her heart to rule. Sophie¿s intriguing older sisters, the taller and more dangerous than most men Isadore and the nurturing visionary Juliet, add depth to understanding the curse and other magical elements. Readers will take immense delight with this tale and look forward to Juliet¿s turn to challenge the curse...................... Harriet Klausner

    Not your typical romance novel

This book is not only 'a romance paperback'. The plot twists and conspiracies it has are very entertaining. It's like watching a movie in your head, with antagonists and sub-plots, the characters evolve and you are left hanging at the end...waiting for the next book to see what is going to happen

    Great Fairytale Romance

This a very carefully weaved fairytale with steamy scenes and well thought of plots that twist between the three Fyne sisters' lives...making you only want to continue on with the following two books to find out what will happen next.

No True Love For The Fyne Sisters

The Fyne sisters were the loveliest in the land ¿ except that they were also witches cursed with a spell : any man they loved would die a young and tragic death. The dark and smouldering Isadora and the gentle, nurturing Juliet are contented to live in isolation up in the mountains but the youngest, bright golden haired Sophie , yearns for more. When she stumbles upon a green eyed man in the woods, she makes love to him. A year later, the green eyed man returns to the magical lake and finds Sophie feeding a child he knows instantly is his. Determined to marry her, Kane Varden pursues Sophie who tells him that marriage is impossible if he values his life. But when a spurned lover, Galvyn Farrel, kidnaps their daughter, our green eyed man and golden witch join forces to rescue their beloved Ariana. As they journey together to the Emperor¿s palace where Ariana is taken, they fall in love with each other. But there is an unpleasant surprise awaiting them ¿ the evil emperor Sebestyen now wants Sophie to be his wife and what Sebestyen wants, Sebestyen always gets. As the situation looks despondent and hopeless, Kane and Sophie receives help from an unlikely source ¿ a person from Kane¿s past that he thought he would never see again. Filled with magical creatures laced with mighty powers and characters that will enchant you,THE SUN WITCH is amazingly entertaining, especially for those who are looking for a sweet escape from the harsh realities of life and just want to be swept off into a world of fantasy and romance. If its butterflies in the stomach, a giggle and a lighthearted banter you want, this is the book for you. Enjoy it with a sinful bowl of chocolate chip ice cream and you¿re set to go- Suhainah Wahiduddin-

    What an adventure!

After reading this book I had to read the other two. I bought the third one to the series, but wasn't able to get my hands on the second. So now, I know what happens in the beginning and the end but not the middle.
