We absolutely love SundayMusic 5 and wish that whoever compiled

We absolutely love SundayMusic 5 and wish that whoever compiled this CD and some of the other Barnes & Noble SundayMusic CDs would create some additional compilations.  We play this versatile CD all year, which is saying something because it is tough to imagine how Little Drummer Boy manages to easily sync with the sultry temps of July and August, but it does.  Favorite songs are Carol of the Bells by The Bird and the Bee, Snowfall by Ingrid Michaelson, Fairytale of New York by K.T. Tunstall and Ed Harcourt, All I Ever Get for Christmas is Blue by Over the Rhine and the delightful instrumental O Holy Night from Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip.  We were so taken with Imogen Heap's Just For Now that we have become avid Heap fans and have purchased everything she has released including her Imogen Heap & Frou Frou CD.  Until we checked out the actual lyrics, Just For Now seemed like it may have been a song about waiting for Santa Claus and yet, no.  No actual mention of Christmas at all but still so Christmas all the same.  A fabulous find while browsing Barnes & Noble one day, we have bought this for many friends, so very sure that they will also love it and keep it out all year and they have.  Easily this could become your favorite Christmas CD that you are reluctant to retire on New Year's Day.

    Refreshing, Innovative Holiday Music

SundayMusic has done it again with their fifth compilation, complete with uniquely original music for the holiday season. SundayMusic5 is a wonderful album that you could even listen to year round. It's by no means your average Christmas CD and includes music from artists all across the board, from Ray Charles to Sufjan Stevens. My favorite tracks include The Bird & The Bee's trippy reimagining of the standard "Carol of the Bells", "Just For Now", Imogen Heap's whimsical ode to family holiday gatherings, and the soulful rendition of "Oh, Holy Night" from Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip. I highly recommend that anyone eager for some awesome, contemporary holiday music pick up a copy of SundayMusic 5....and all other SundayMusic's you can get your hands on!

A Refreshing Mix To The Holiday Playlist

On my own accord, I say this album is wonderful. Unique collection of artists, favorites being Imogen, Sonos, bird and the bee and the INCREDIBLE Studio 60 track! Finding albums like this are great for learning of new artists and providing a fresh sound for ears thirsting for the joy that comes with any holiday music.<BR/>For my parents (for whom I am buying this album) I say that I will be glad to have something else playing at the house! Whenever I go home for the holidays, it's the same 5 cds playing. I look forward to spreading the good word of Sunday 5 to them and anyone else on my Christmas list!

Truly essential/original Holiday Music - impressive

Some of these artists may be very familiar -- there's a simple beauty from before Norah Jones became a household name plus Imogen Heap at her most wry, and a brand new wintry love song from Ingrid Michaelson; they've selected two of the most soulful Christmas classics ever recorded -- by the legendary Ray Charles and Lou Rawls. There's also great new (to me) artists like vocal group Sonos, whose version of "White Winter Hymnal," originally by the Seattle band Fleet Foxes, is absolutely gorgeous, as well as Over the Rhine, Eastmountainsouth, the Bird and the Bee and a personal favorite, Sufjan Stevens. The most electrifying track is "O Holy Night' - never released before, from the much missed Studio 60 TV show. The whole collection is delightful, I've never quite heard a Christmas record like it. There's a vein of joy, melody and humor -- a great combo for the holidays. Recommended to music lovers across all genres.
