Library Journal - Library Journal
The dusty little town of Sand Creek, Nebraska is the setting for this first novel by a promising young author. In the 1870s conflicts rage on the range lands. A paramount problem is wholesale rustling. Luke Howard is one of the gunmen hired to stop the rustling. He takes on other issues involving gold prospectors and nesters seeking farm land. His troubleshooting job is complicated by a conscience that surfaces occasionally and by a developing romance. The fast pace is sustained, suspense is high, and the characters are solid and reala believable combination of good and bad. Sister Avila, Acad . of Holy Angels, Minneapolis
