    Shedding Light on Photography

I had admired this photography kit on more than one occasion, after having once used cyanotype paper and falling in love with it. The kit went on sale for a very reasonable price and I was able to purchase it much to my delight. I had purchased the kit for the paper, but was pleased to find the kit also included a knowledgeable photography book, which I used to aid me in a photographic essay I am composing. The kit was able to impart useful information for young and old, and I highly recommend it for fun or as a gift.

    Fun +Learning

On a recent visit to Barnes and Noble I was not only excitied but impressed to find a large selection of educational "kits" for all ages. In the end I chose the Sunlight Print Photography Kit for a gift for a 12 year old. It was a hard decision as there were so many selections. If you, like me, would like to give something that will stimulate minds as well as entertain check out this section of the store. I will be returning.

    Fun for all ages

I purchased this as an educational activity that I could share with my grandaughter. Great idea, she loved it! The supplies and instructions are complete and simple enough for a five year old (with adult supervision), and surprisingly interesting and informative for adults as well. The book covers material on several different types of photography and offers suggestions for different projects using the light sensitive paper (included in the kit). My daughter was inspired to do a presentation on primative photography for a college class, based on information contained in the book. A good time was had by all, and a good grade on the presentation as well. I would recomend this kit to any student interested in photography or art.

    Great Gift, Such Fun!

"Sunlight Print Photography Kit" was purchased by me as a Christmas Gift for my Ten Year Old Nephew.

My Nephew is very interested in doing "stuff" and creating. This gift is PERFECT for him!

His eyes lit up when he received this gift. He wanted to try it out right then and there, but the only trouble was there was not sun as it was given to him on Christmas Eve.

He had fun exploring the next day, finding leaves and things to "photograph".

This is great for children to have an unusual outlet for their creativity.

    great gift idea

Seeing this on the shelf brought back memories of summer camp. My niece really enjoyed getting a craft she can do outside even in the coldest of Michigan weather.

Inspirational, creative and entertaining for kids and adults

This is a creative and entertaining activity for both kids and adults. In an age when photography and development is removed to an invisible digital atmosphere, this book demonstrates the basic concepts of light and photography. It will amaze the kids and even adults with the creative and easy activities the reader can do. The results are amazing. A great gift, especially for the difficult to buy for teens. I highly recommend this book.

    Photographic process made easy

We bought this kit for my 12 year old. She is gifted in art and this was her introduction to the process of photography. It has been a great launch point for her. Although the Sunlight Kit does introduce other basic types of photography the materials provided are for cyanotype prints. The book is easy to follow and provides good examples. My daughter only used the provided negatives on 1 or 2 prints instead choosing from other materials (lace, clear ruler, paper clips, and feathers). These activities really forced her to think of various materials in another way and focus in on silhouette composition. She has had a lot of fun with this kit. The only negative that we have found is that you must have ideal circumstances to produce successful prints; bright sunlight. We haven't tried other papers to see if we could get a darker image. Spring or summer would be the best time for this activity.

    Flawless

This book is the Brothers Karamazov, the à la Recherche de Temps Perdu of lo-tech photography reference books. The passages on how to construct a pinhole camera, are exsquisite, delectable. Ms. Marlowe is the Joyce of the medium. I am very much looking forward to her next work.

    Loved it!

I was taught how to use cyanotypes in my high school's photography class, so this book was a fun way to continue using cyanotypes even after our unit was over!
