What People Are Saying

Erik Deckers
"Sunny Daze gives other humor writers good reasons to be jealous of Faith Foyil -- she's funny AND she lives on a beautiful island. Sure, she complains about the heat, but I think that's just to keep the rest of us away."
humor columnist, The American Reporter
Judy Gruen
"Faith Foyil has written a funny and wryly observant guide to life as a 'Bahama Mama.' She gives birth expecting Treasure Island but often ends up in Paradise Lost."
author of Carpool Tunnel Syndrome and Till We Eat Again
Kristen Twedt
"Faith Foyil offers a funny take on life in paradise with kids and the revelation that the ultimate vacation destination offers the same daily challenges for any mom, including the risk of going completely "coconuts."
columnist, Hattiesburg American, and author of My Crazy Coastal Catastrophe Cat
Linda Sharp
"With laughs that flow like tanning lotion left out in the sun all day, Faith Foyil kicks sand in the face of the notion that life on an island is nothing but tropical breezes, umbrella drinks and Sunny Daze!"
columnist and author of Stretchmarks on my Sanity
Peter McKay
"Faith Foyil adds an extra degree of kookiness to parenting: living on an island where a Saturday afternoon shopping trip can mean plane tickets and excess baggage charges."
columnist for The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and author of Welcome to the Nuthouse

    Bahama Mama

Ms. Foyil has a wonderful way to explain the 'real' life for mothers in the Bahamas. Her usage of words paints a very vivid picture. I too have lugged extra suitcases to the mainland to shop. One chapter discusses her issues with kids and pets and I'm certain every parent can relate. I choked when I read about the turtle farm. This is a classic example of many parents lives. I have laughed so hard reading this book, I thought I would pop a few buttons. Even though I have read this book several times, whenever I need a good laugh, I'll read a chapter again. I can't hardly wait for more books from this author. I wish she would start writing a screen play. What's better than honesty with comedy?

Life's a Real Beach for This Mom

Aaah, what could be better than life in Paradise? The warm, sunny beaches, the tropical island sun, the laid back island attitude¿the¿the¿ The constant power outages? The sparse grocery selections? The gecko infestations? What happened to Paradise? Faith R. Foyil can tell you all about it and does in her hilarious new book, SUNNY DAZE. Foyil¿s adventures, er¿misadventures as an American transplant to the Bahamas is a reminder that American moms don¿t exactly have a corner on the market when it comes to day-to-day stress. Hardly! In true Erma Bombeck style, Foyil sets us on an adventure with her where we learn, perhaps a little shockingly, that daily life in the Bahamas isn¿t all about volleyball tournaments and free margaritas. Instead, we sit amusedly by while she tells us about: *Boating hell *No-see-ums and other strange infestations *Driving, or rather trying to drive in the Bahamas *The physics of packing too much stuff in too little space for a U.S. to Bahamas flight *Her, uh, ¿moving¿ medical procedure Foyil¿s sense of humor is sharp and her wit fresh. She¿ll make you laugh with such observations as, ¿Today¿s Game Cube kids can¿t possibly comprehend how quickly home technology has advanced in the last twenty-five years. They master Microsoft Excel and Publisher around the same time they learn not to pick their noses in public¿ (p.122) and bring you into her story with her genuine voice. She sounds not like a mom who¿s trying to be funny rather a mom who just happens to notice how funny her life is. SUNNY DAZE is a quick, light read that will make you chuckle. Good for lounging around the swimming pool with or as a gift to a mom you might know who thinks ¿life is a beach,¿ it¿s a fun read.

    Had Me in Stitches

I thoroughly enjoyed reading Faith Foyil's book, Sunny Daze. Every page had a laugh on it, and even though I don't have children, I could relate because I am an aunt. I could also relate to many of her other topics in her book, such as flying, being on a boat, etc. She uses everyday life as her script and tells what it's like to live on an island and all the 'perks' that go with it. Faith is a humorous writer and I would enjoy reading more books by her.

    Lots of Laughs

Sunny Daze is a laugh out loud book. It should be required reading for every new (and slightly used) mom. Ms. Foyil gives the reader a very humorous take on island living.
