THE BABY IS BACK! Dav Pilkey's pint-sized powerhouse returns for another amazing adventure! Now in paperback with a shiny foil cover! George and Harold (the co-stars of the enormously popular Captain Underpants series) are in big trouble again! Their mean principal, Mr. Krupp, has had it with their comic books. But the boys aren't giving up, and they decide to create an all-new epic novel about a subject they've never tackled before! Dr. Dilbert Dinkle started his career as an ordinary, everyday evil genius/inventor/bank robber. But when he awakens one day transformed into a walking, talking puddle of pee, he vows to destroy every toilet in town. Will the devious Dr. Dinkle and his conniving cat, Petey, ruin restrooms for the rest of us? Or could this be a job for the death-defying duo of Super Diaper Baby and Diaper Dog?

Children's Literature - Kathie M. Josephs
Let me say up front that this book really annoys me. Although it is geared toward children, a five-page span includes derogatory terms like dumb, stupid, dumb head, and shut up; finally, someone was going to smash a stupid doll with a rock. The book is written as though by a very young child, with words misspelled everywhere. For example, "picnick" (picnic), "afecks" (affects), "aren't" (aren't), and "stoled" (stolen). I do not understand why this was done. A child speaking does so correctly, not in misspelled words. Here's the story: The Hoskin's family went to the park to spend the day. Events happened, and of course Diaper Baby saved the day. The worst was when all the toilets were broken and no one could use the bathroom. Throughout each of the seven chapters, Super Diaper Baby is in the right place at the right time and is a hero to all. The author did a good job ending the story with a solution to something that occurred in the first chapter. The father of Super Diaper Baby didn't think he was a good father because he couldn't do things as well as his children, and therefore didn't think he was needed. In the last chapter, the father is told he is the "bravest, strongest, Daddy" there ever was. I do not recommend this book because of the many terribly misspelled words and abundance of name calling throughout the story. Neither are necessary for the storyline. Book two of the "Super Diaper Baby" series. Reviewer: Kathie M. Josephs

This spin-off of the wildly popular “Captain Underpants” series introduces a newborn superhero, inadvertently powerized upon falling into a container of “super power juice” stolen from Captain Underpants by the evil Deputy Dangerous. Created by the incorrigible and fictional fourth graders who supposedly drew Captain Underpants, these stories drip with bathroom humor, amusingly bad puns, misspellings, and good natured silliness.

Gr 2–4—For fans of the first installment in this gross-out graphic novel series, the long wait is over. And it was long—an ad for this book appeared in the back of the first "Super Diaper Baby," published in 2002. The evil Dr. Dilbert Dinkle has created the Liquidator 2000 to turn bank vaults into water but accidentally steps in the ray himself. Rendered a puddle of H2O, he vows revenge on the town by taking all of their toilets, and Super Diaper Baby and his canine sidekick must save the day. The book is presented as a comic made by kids, with spelling and grammatical errors and willfully simplistic black-and-white artwork—a perfect match for the tone of the book. Crude humor is easy. Funny crude humor is not. And the laughs here (and there are many) are definitely spot-on for the intended audience. There are moments in this book that might leave adults in utter shock, but that is precisely the appeal of this inspired bit of potty humor. There's no question that kids will love it.—Travis Jonker, Dorr Elementary School, MI
