Beth Greer had been living what she considered a healthy lifestyle when a medical crisis prompted her to reevaluate everything—from the food she ate to the personal-care products she used and the environment she lived in. Now, in Super Natural Home, she shows the alarming extent of the dangerous chemicals we unwittingly expose ourselves to every day. As she did in her own life, she invites readers to put their lives under a microscope—to scrutinize what Americans put in and on their bodies and bring into their homes—and to make personal choices that will enable them to "live clean" in a toxic world.
The straightforward, solutions-based approach of Super Natural Home—complete with quizzes to help identify and correct potential toxic hot zones—speaks directly to what environment-conscious consumers really need: ultra-practical advice on what they can do right now to limit exposure to the poisons that are endangering them and their children. At a time when impeccable scientific research points to an alarming correlation between common chemical compounds and cancers, allergies, psychiatric disorders, and birth defects, among other serious health concerns, Super Natural Home gives consumers the tools to start protecting themselves and their families.

As an award-winning journalist and holistic health advocate, Beth Greer summarizes the results of research and insights of many in the fields of health, food, and environmental toxins in "Super Natural Home." "Super Natural Home" has three sections (10 chapters), covering the following subjects: What Goes in You: How to Eliminate Exposure to Toxic Chemicals in Your Food and Drinking Water; What Goes on You: How to Choose Safe Cosmetic and Body Care Products; What Surrounds You: How to Minimize Indoor Air Pollution in Your Home Environment. Beth Greer has compiled some convincing statistics. For example, many of the chemicals found in everyday consumer products cause breast cancer in animals; indoor air can be 5 to 100 times more polluted than the outside air due to the toxic fumes emitted from carpeting, paint, wallpaper and household cleaner. She has proposed some practical and incremental steps to improve your health, home, and planet: avoid pesticides, food additives (MSG, trans fat, artificial sweeteners), factory-farmed foods, genetically foods, unfiltered tap water; eat organic food and nonorganic fruit and vegetable with the fewest traces of pesticides whenever possible. Beth Greer also lists many useful resources, and healthy foods, etc. in the book. "Super Natural Home" has 256 pages. It is a practical and helpful book that everyone can enjoy. Super Natural Home, Improve Your Health, Home And Planet-One Room At A Time is the guide to achieving a chemical free environment for your family. Author Beth Greer is an award-winning journalist and holistic health advocate. She is also the founder of Super Natural Home.com, a Web site that is devoted to providing healthy and natural strategies in making your home safe from indoor pollutants. Ms. Greer's book is dedicated to her grandmother Bertha who she gives credit to for being her inspiration in becoming a Super Natural Mom. This book is well organized and basically divided into three sections: What Goes In You What Goes On You What Surrounds You Most chapters have these features: What You Should Know 3 Ways to Make a Shift Unsung Heroes There are recipes for food and for making your own natural cleaners. With a dozen pages for resources, detailed index and glossary, Super Natural Mom leaves no question unanswered. Change is never easy but even a little is better than none. One change I'm making is putting Beth's book on my cookbook shelf in the kitchen; to have her recipes for cleaning products handy and to remind me what to look for in the packaged foods I'm preparing. This way I'll become familiar with what I should or should not be buying before I go to the supermarket. I don't know about you but it's more than I can handle just juggling coupons and comparing prices. One very handy hint is to look at the first 3 digits of a bar code. If the numbers are 690-695 this tells you that the product was made in China. Beth also has a recipe in her book for making your own Veggie Wash. A portion of the book's proceeds will go to 2 charitable organizations: Search for the Cause Healthy Child Healthy World What better way to celebrate Earth Day than by improving your own home environment !
