Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Denise Daley
What makes an ordinary motorcycle a superbike? The superbikes in this book are the fastest, rarest, most expensive and eye-catching motorcycles in the world. Most of these bikes can travel at speeds over 200 mph and although their prices vary, each one is easily over $100,000.00. Readers will learn many interesting facts about these sixteen exclusive superbikes. Each superbike is presented in a single chapter that is two pages long and contains two to three glossy photographs. Most of the information is contained in fact boxes that surround a colorful photograph of the superbike. Young readers will find this simple format engaging and appealing. For every superbike there is also a "super stats" box that lists things such as the bikes top speed, engine size, and country of origin. This is a fun and informative book and as a high-interest, low reading level nonfiction book it will appeal to younger readers, especially those who are reluctant to read books in a more traditional format. It is part of the "Mean Machines" series. Reviewer: Denise Daley
