Great Essential Book for New Mothers

I purchased this book, based on the other reader reviews, for the mother of our first grandson. I just wanted her to have something available if she needed good solid help. She is a lot like me, we both believe in the value of good information in good and well written books.
We just visited our son and his family a few weeks ago. She had accepted this book as a gift from me back in the spring and stuck it up on her shelf with other recipe books. When our grandson started to eat "other than mother's milk" food, she brought it down and read it cover-to-cover. She tells me now that it is one of the best gifts that I gave her for the baby. She just loves it and uses it all the time. She will continue to use this book far into our grandson's future as he goes to preschool and regular school I have put this book on my own personal "wish list" so that after the first of the year I can have it with my own recipe books...I want to cook/bake for my grandson as his mother would.
Back 36 years ago when my son was a baby I used the wisdom of my son's godmother's grandmother who owned and ran a health food store for 35 years in our community. I did a fine job with her help, but I surely would have loved to have a good book like this!

VERY IMPORTANT ALERT: In this day and age of childhood disease related to diet/nutrition, this book is a valuable asset to any and all parents!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Lots of Information

This book has tons of info for the new parent wanting to make their own babyfood. Quick, simple & easy. There are a few ommissions that I find puzzling... like green beans. They aren't even in the index! I'm surprised because they are a popular '1st foods' at the supermarket but she doesn't discuss them. Or mangoes, but those are obviously less popular.

    Annabel Karmel is wonderful

I can't belive there are no reviews here has the USA not discovered this wonderful woman. I first used her baby cookbook 11 years ago and 3 kids later I have had to buy a new one as it is worn out. The recipies are great and can feed my 2 yr old and 11yr old with fresh healthy foods. you can batch cook and then freeze a lot of the recipies. So go on buy this book and buy an Annabel Karmel book for every Baby Shower you go to

    Waste of money

I really like annabel karmel's other book, top 100 baby purees, so i bought this to get some more recipes for my groeing baby. Unfortunately mostly all of the recipes are the same as in her other books plus the format of this book looks awful in the nook. Very disappointing!

A must buy for new baby !!!

If you're thinking of making home made food for your new baby this is definitely a must get. It helped me step by step, month by month to create wholesome and healthy food for my baby. It guides you on making extra food and how to store your food so you're not cooking every day. You have recipes well into their toddler years and they taste great. The pictures are great too.

Be sure to check with your pediatrician before using... but a great book

I make my son's food and found this to be a good reference, especially for when you move out of the puree stage. It serves as a good source of inspiration.

The one thing that I will say is that some of the author's recommendations for what to eat at what age aren't in line with the American Academy of Pediatrics' guidelines. (This is a common problem with baby food cookbooks.) So just be sure to check the recipes against the doctors' recommendations before you invest in this or any other cookbook.
