All Music Guide - Alex Henderson

Urban contemporary considerations don't even enter the picture on this CD, which came out in 1998 but sounded like it could have been recorded in 1974. Retro was exactly what SuperHoney was going for, and the Boston band does it well. SuperHoney has a major asset in singer Joan Pimental-Flynn, ...

Retro was exactly what SuperHoney was going for, and the Boston band does it well. SuperHoney has a major asset in singer Joan Pimental-Flynn, a big-voiced belter who brings a lot of passion and grit to the jazzy "Lightheaded," the melancholy "Wait For You" and the driving "Super Duper." Most of the songs are pure soul, although SuperHoney brings a strong rock edge to "Taste My Wine." This very promising EP which SuperHoney produced with Scott Riebling of the alternative rock band Letters to Cleo made listeners anxious to hear what the Bostonians would do on their first full-length album.
