If you like Superman but like "out of the box" stories then you will love superior. Most Mark Millar graphic novels are jam packed with gore, foul language, senseless violence and situations that you wouldn't expect to see in a fairly mainstream comic. This graphic novel though is where Millar breaks the mold. While retaining the quirkiness and realism that Millar uses in his stories, its also an inspiring story that has a great plot, pages of blockbuster action and a fantastic ending that will make you want to read it over and over and have you cheering for the hero everytime. I highly recommend superior, even if you don't like superhero comics.

Mark Millar sometimes gets a bad rap as someone who writes comics just to get them optioned to Hollywood. My opinion on that is so what. If they are all this good it doesn’t matter. Superior started off as a pretty clichéd Superman riff (as intended) but ended up as so much more. It was heartfelt and clever. The dialogue was current without trying to hard. The art by Leinil Francis Yu was spectacular. I thought he was an odd choice at first but it actually made perfect sense. Overall, a great book!

The story was engaging and entertaining. The illustrator did amazing work. Mark Millar never disappoints if you are a fan of any of his books do not skip this one.
