Steinback's previous cookbooks (one of which was published by the QVC network) have sold more than two million copies. As she does on her web site, AmericasHealthiestMom.com, here she emphasizes healthy eating, with charts on seasonal produce, decoding nutritional labels, and the like. While her recipes are low in fat, they don't always reflect her low-salt philosophy. Many of the convenience foods that she uses contain sky-high salt amounts (e.g., 2,491 mg per serving for the Turkey Taco Salad, slightly above the total recommended daily amount for those not watching salt intake!). And she includes healthful "Super Tips" with each recipe, but they don't necessarily match the recipe: for Chili-Cheese Dip, she notes that by cooking dried beans, "you avoid commercial additives such as salt, MSG, preservatives found in canned beans," but the ingredients list calls for a can of low-fat chili with beans.
