Of all the supernatural novels out there ( and this is coming from someone that had stopped buying them because they were getting crappy) this is the only novel I have read that has really captured the boys and the overall story arc of our show. Past novels haven't even come close to depicting the brothers characters, mannerism, emotion, and over all relationship. However this novel was able to do that.
In regards to the plot, the main idea was interesting BUT it dragged out. At times the writer spents more time on secondary characters than he does on the boys. And some chapters dragged out the death of a character or the backstory of the character. Well at least that's my opinion. I do hope that John Passarella gets another crack at writing another SN novel. If he continues to write I will continue to buy. As for past SN novels, well they have sucked. This one was good.

A headless horseman attacked teenagers Steven Ballister, Tony Lacosta and the police chief's daughter Lucy Quinn. As they fled, a driverless vintage 1968 muscle car runs over Steven and vanishes. The vehicle looked like the one owned by Lucy's late boyfriend Teddy Kucharski who died in a DUI last year. Homeless Gavin Shelburn reports a giant Gila Monster attacked him. A humongous tarantula kills jogging science teacher Jason Dufford whose legs were trapped inside cement. A tree limb kills a father before leaving his son's bedroom to dump the corpse on the street.
The Winchester siblings claim to be FBI agents as they fight monsters like Nazi zombies and a devouring sink hole. When the killer car murders Tony, Sam and Dean look for links to the car crash that killed Teddy as they believe Lucy is next while her dad rejects the evidence that nightmares are coming to life in Clayton Falls. They know they must not sleep as their nightmares like Soulless Sam will add a filled oil tanker to an inferno.
Supernatural: Night Terror is an exhilarating action-packed horror thriller in which the Winchester brothers, the townsfolk and the reader will obtain no restful sleep until the final confrontation with the supernatural creature causing the deadly assaults as perception is lethal reality. Fast-paced, John Passarella does a great job of novelizing the TV series with an exciting entry that occurs between "Frontierland" and "Mommy Dearest".

Sam and Dean Winchester lost their mother to a mysterious and demonic force twenty-nine years ago. In the years after, their father taught them about the paranormal evil that lives in the dark corners and on the back roads of America...and he taught them how to kill it... When Bobby is alerted to some strange happenings in Clayton Falls, Colorado, he sends Sam and Dean Winchester to do a bit of recon. Lucy Quinn, the daughter of the chief of police, claims that she and two friends were chased by a headless horseman in the park. Lucy and Tony escaped. Her other friend, Steve, ended up running into the street, where he was hit and killed by a '68 Charger. But the '68 Charger did not have a driver and witnesses saw the phantom vehicle disappear into thin air. That same night, a homeless man reports being chased by a Gila monster that had been the size of two Nissans. Sam and Dean use their counterfeit FBI (Homeland Security) credentials to investigate. Chief Quinn believes his daughter may have been drinking and imagined it all. Same with the homeless man. He refuses to believe any of the crazy reports coming into the station are true...even those from his own officers, who insist that Nazi zombies are attacking the locals. The brothers soon find themselves fighting the stuff of nightmares. A tree uproots itself and impales a man on a limb. A giant tarantula dines on a jogger. A sinkhole that is deep and wide enough to hold a gymnasium forms. And those are only the beginning. This novel is a media tie-in to the hit CW series "Supernatural". This is an original story and has never been seen on television. If you have not watched the show, I believe that you will still thoroughly enjoy this tale of paranormal horror. For those of you who never miss and episode, "Night Terror" takes place during Season Six, between "Frontierland" and "Mommy Dearest". Author John Passarella writes with a type of malignant zealousness that is highly contagious to his readers. My husband said that any time the real world dared to interfere with my reading of this story (and this includes whenever he gently tapped on my shoulder to ask a quick question), I would have an antagonistic glare in my eyes until I could return to whatever lethal creature was causing havoc. Needless-to-say, interruptions were kept to a minimum. Whether you want an extra "Supernatural" episode or simply to read a dark story and feel cold fingers run the length of your spine, this novel is perfect....Reviewed by Detra Fitch of Huntress Reviews

Overall, I thought this book was okay. I really can't argue about the author's portrayal of the Winchester boys. I thought the author's characterization of them was pretty close to the show's, and I enjoyed all the scenes they were in. That said, they should have either been in more scenes, or the book should have been a lot shorter.
It seemed like half the novel was just a study on writing death scenes as strange, gory, and gruesome as possible. The author was continuously giving multi-page introductions to different characters only to have them killed a couple of pages later. While in a few cases the extra detail about these characters were necessary to the plot, in most cases they weren't and quite frankly it got tiresome.
I gave this three stars because for the most part I still liked reading the book and it was well-written, but the author really needed to pay more attention to the main characters and stop going off on creative tangents.

The best action adventure written to date for the tv series Supernatural. I could not stop reading. The plot was well written
and the characters were engaging.
I would recommend it to any fan of the show as the most action packed novel in the series of books written around this tv series.

Personally, I have nothing bad to say about the book, but for those reader who are reading these reviews listen up please... At the beginning it gets confusing with it going from the brothers to different victims, but keep reading and it litteraly al adds up. One thing you oncoming readers should know is this book is ment for those with a strong stomach. I love the televison sho and the whole storyline, and with John Passerella's use of the characters I like. Jared Padalecki/Sam Winchester screwed me up. I normally make mental images of the characters and already seeing them on the show messed with the way i made the mental images, but i still liked it. Being an author myself, reading other author's stories are amazing. I am sorry if there is any misspellings in this review it is 10:13 pm at night and i am tired. If any of you want the first chapter of my new book (\Bound: Fate/) make your subject !*Amanda*! Thank you.

It lost two stars from me because I think they should have used Bobby alot more and added Cas to the story there were alot of situations he could have helped. They defined Dean and Sam very well but I think they should have kept it more focused on them instead of all these random characters no one can keep track of. They did their personalities perfect and I laughed at Dean's dream because that would totally be him.

very action packed! As a huge huge fan of the show, i was impressed. I had tall expecations for the book to live up to, and i feel it absolutely did. The story not only flows as you would expect it to, but you can imagine the lighting, the boys facial expressions, their body language, the music, the scenery, etc... all those intricate parts of the show are included in detail. That to me, made the book worthy of being a supernatural novel. My only complaint is that Sam seems to get sidelined in the book as much as he does on the show. I am a Dean fan, and the show is incrediblly Pro Dean. I was a bit saddened to see Sam take on that 2nd best role in the novel. This was so action packed, this would have been a 2-3 part show. It fit into the storyline arc well. I recommend it 100%.

I've read the other novels and have to say, as a whole, this was the weakest of the bunch. The point of view jumps from one character to the next frequently, most of whom you only get to know for a paragraph or two. They might as well be named Pathos for all the good it does. And with all the jumping back and forth it tends to break the timeline of events happening. Granted, the 'terrors' are interesting and imaginative but there's not much to the plot or depth to the characters as seen in the previous books. Enjoyable to read but I'd recommend the other novels first.
