As a fan of the television series, I was hoping this would be more fun. While I love the high stakes, dramatic action, and eerie elements of the show, the sense of humor between Sam and Dean helps keep the show fresh. Here is a tale of their father we get none of that. The plot was pretty by the book and made John, who we know to be intelligent, look ignorant. While I understand he grew into the character we knew this is a huge learning curve then. The art was decent but not fantastic. Overall this book doesn’t really do anything new or that well. It’s a book that can be skipped.
Being a fan of the show, I couldnt wait to get my hands on this when I found out about it. I thought it was really well done. The drawings are simple but nice, the story is fantastic (much better than I was expecting), and the overall experience was great. Definitely a must read for fans.
I found the background on John Winchester to very interesting. I just wish there had been more storyline involving the brothers Dean and Sam.
