All Music Guide - Mike DeGagne
The hard rock rawness of Buffalo''s Goo Goo Dolls makes Superstar Car Wash an album that is high on amicable guitar riffs and attractive hooks, with an edge that never goes away. All the choruses are sandwiched perfectly between the crunching throttle of electric guitar and pleasing rock rhythms, changing pace and style just a notch in each of the 14 songs. Heavy but far from pretentious, songs like "Fallin'' Down," "Cuz You''re Gone," and "We Are the Normal," co-written by Paul Westerberg, combine pleasing elements of rough harmonies with infectious runs of six-string grit. The attitude that surrounds the album makes the Goo Goo Dolls out to be a rough and tumble outfit, outlining all the tunes with a rebellious tone. Quite different from their platinum A Boy Named Goo album, which soun ded smoother and refined, Superstar Carwash has the band sounding loose and freewheeling, making the best of any musical misdirection. Before radio adopted their polished glimmer, they let loose and channeled their playful immaturity throughout the attractive impurity of this album.

Spiffy CD with good lyrics and amazing guitars.

This is one of the most beautiful CDs of all times. It has the coolest guitar solos and catchy tunes. The words are good. They are deep, but not in a superficial I'm-such-poetic-deep-artist way. It is a CD of enthusiastic rock. You can't help but to feel energetic after hearing "Fallin' Down", "Girl Right Next To Me" or "Stop the World". Songs like "We Are The Normal" (co-written by genius Paul Westerberg) and "String of Lies" are compelling too. This CD rocks. Get it.

The best album of all time

This is my favourite CD ever. I am a huge fan of the Goo Goo Dolls, they're the band I enjoy most with no exception. All of their albums are great since 'Hold Me Up' but this one just sticks out as a masterpiece of pure perfection. The songs are solid, catchy and tight; most are rocky numbers but it has a nice break with 'We Are the Normal', containing an effective acoustic & string section. Almost every track on this album is as strong as each other so it's hard to pick any out in particular, but 'Fallin' Down', 'Cuz You're Gone', 'Girl Right Next To Me', 'Another Second Time Around', 'Already There' & 'On The Lie' are required listening. This album should have been their breakthrough round the world, it obviously didn't get the promotion it deserved because I can't believe it's so underrated.

    A ''Must Have'' Album

If you are a big GOO GOO DOLLS fan and own the albums that made them famous like, ''A Boy Named Goo'' and ''Dizzy Up the Girl'' and that's it, you're missing something! In 1993, they didn't have money but they did have a talent. SUPERSTAR CARWASH is a must have album!! There are no acoustic songs on the album except for part of ''We Are the Normal''. The rock songs are the best that I've heard from any of their albums! Dissapiontly, this album never sold enough and it cancelled the tour in 1993, I don't know why but you GOTTA have this album! On it, look for songs like.. ''Fallin' Down'' ''Lucky Star'' ''Girl Right Next To Me'' ''We Are the Normal'' ''Another Second Time Around'' and ''On The Lie. Buy it!!!!
