Supplement to Music since 1900

Supplement to Music since 1900

by Nicolas Slonimsky

Editorial Reviews

Library Journal - Library Journal
This supplement to the 1971 fourth edition of Slonimsky's chronicle of important performances and musical events brings Music Since 1900 forward from 5 January 1970 to 13 July 1985 through chronological additions covering those years. The now familiar short-entry form is maintained, as is the author's penchant for sometimes cryptic one-sentence entries and whimsical discriptions. The coverage is extremely uneven, and suggests that inclusion may be more a result of chance than of a clearly thought-out set of criteria. In the absence of any other source for this kind of information, however, the book and its new supplement provide an invaluable accounting of modern musical life. (Index not seen.) Timothy J.
