Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Marilyn Courtot
In the message to parents and teachers printed on the inside front cover, parents in particular will find out that their kids learn to read in a variety of ways and that no one method is right for every child. Pablo is part of the Backyardigans, and in this pre-level one reader, he tells about his love of surfing. With just a few words on each page, kids really will understand the sport and perhaps, like Pablo, will want to get right up on that surfboard and do it over and over. The simple illustrations appear to be computer generated, which is not surprising considering that the story is based on characters that appear on Nick Jr. The characteristics of pre-level one early readers are word repetition, familiar words and phrases, and simple sentences. Book #4 from "The Backyardigans" Ready-to-Read series.

This book is short and there is a lot of repetition of words in it. It is nice to sit down and read it with my daughter. She likes watching the Backyardigans on TV and loves the books just as the show.
