Surfer Bride was provided to me complimentary for review. Having never read anything by Ms. Chantal I wasn't sure what to expect. Well, needless to say I was completely blown away, absolutely loved it! Surfer Bride is a romance novel but it's also much more than Romance. When I think of "romance" books, I think of the old bodice ripping, no real story line but that was not the case with Surfer Bride. This book is perfect if your looking a read that has it all, romance, intrigue, humor and suspense. Several times while I was reading it, my 12 year old had to ask if I was okay because I found myself chuckling out loud due to the conversations between Quincy & Finn, and Quincy & Avery, her best friend. The story focuses on Quincy a professional surfer, Percy Hicks, her antique dealing fiance and Finn Smith, former Miami Detective and her ex-boyfriend. With surfing, antiques, gun running and love, this is the perfect read for a lazy afternoon or quiet evening.

    Loved it!

I picked this book up because I loved the title and it didn't disappoint. Quincy Holt is a champion surfer and Ms. Chantal made me feel I was out on the water with her. Even out of the surf, Quincy acts with a surfer's code. She knows what's right and what's not right and no one is going to keep her from bringing down one of those "wrongs". One man tries. He's rescued her once already, but there's a world of hurt between these two. The tension is palpable and believable. The story kept me turning page after page after page. And the ending is...well, I don't want to give it away, but I think Ms. Chantal nailed the perfect ending to this story. :)

    Great escape with Surfer Bride

If you want chemistry, danger, suspense, exotic locations, and interesting characters all rolled into one, then Jillian Chantal's Surfer Bride is the perfect book for you. Spunky, independent heroine, Quincy Holt has a successful career as a world champion surfer. Quincy believes her life is on the right path. She's engaged to Percy Hicks, a British antiques dealer and is preparing to move to London when the story begins. She has a major surfing competition in Bali and then it's off to London for her wedding. Imagine Quincy's surprise when her former love, Fennimore "Finn" Smith, shows up with a shocking accusation. Two years ago, Finn Smith, a Miami police detective, left Quincy when he thought she was cheating on him. Now an ATF agent, Finn is investigating Percy Hicks for arms dealing. Hearing that Quincy is marrying his suspect, Finn tries to warn her. Seeing Finn again awakens long buried feelings Quincy has for Finn and puts doubts in her mind where her marriage to Percy is concerned. She fights her feelings and vows to follow through with her plans. Marry Percy and start a family. She doesn't believe Finn or his accusations that her fiance is an arms dealer....UNTIL Quincy is arrested at the Bali Airport while boarding Percy's private jet. It seems Finn was right after all. Now...not only is Quincy fighting her feelings for Finn...she has to fight to prove her innocence and find a way to prove that Percy is the criminal Finn warned her about. Both Quincy and Finn are strong characters. They're both determined and are good at what they do. I love that Quincy is a professional surfer. It's fascinating reading about her surfing skills and the Bali competition. I enjoyed that very much. She's so confident and I love that about her. And Finn is a yummy hero. I enjoyed watching him try to do his job of catching the bad guy while having to "save" Quincy. Following Quincy and Finn on their journey and witnessing their rediscovered love is very, very satisfying. The secondary characters are wonderful. Quincy's best friend, Avery, is sassy and delightful. I also like Quincy's surfing friends as well as Finn's brother and sister. And Percy Hicks is the villain you LOVE to hate! All well-done! Ms. Chantal's settings are marvelous. I love traveling from Miami to Bali to London. The descriptions are vivid...from the places to the people to the food and the clothing. I can see everything so clearly in my mind. Quincy's arrest and her time in jail had me on the edge of my seat, and her climatic scene with Percy in London had me screaming for Finn! Very exciting and action-packed! Surfer Bride is a fantastic read. From the depth of the characters, the exotic locales to the suspenseful story....it all adds up to a great literary escape. I highly recommend this book and look forward to Ms. Chantal's next release!

Move Surfer Bride to the Top of your To Be Read Stack

Jillian Chantal has done it again. Surfer Bride is a great read. From the beaches of Miami to waves of Bali you can almost smell the salt air and feel the sea breeze. As she packs for London where she is to marry an antiques dealer, professional surfer Quincy Holt almost wipes out when she's visited by her ex-boyfriend the handsome former Miami-Dade homicide detective, Fennimore Smth. Finn has come back into Quincy's life to warn her that her fiancé is not what he seems. Unable to deny his attraction Finn kisses Quincy leaving her filled with doubts, not that her fiancé, Percy is the criminal that Finn suggests he is, but doubts about her feelings for the man she's about to marry and the one she believes she's lost forever. From the horrors of a Balinese prison to a dark alley in London, Quincy finds herself in danger time and again. Quincy and Finn not only have to try and work through their old hurts and feelings of mistrust they have to survive to find their happily ever after. Jillian Chantal has woven a fabulous tale of romantic suspense. Quincy is a heroine you'd want to be friends with and Finn is a hero you'll just want. Surfer Bride is a great story to follow Jillian's debut novel Solo Honeymoon. Jillian Chantal does indeed offer romantic adventures with an international flair. I can't wait to see where she'll take us next.
