Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Michael Jung
What do you do when you are a thirteen-year-old girl who wants to impress the stuck up girls from your dance class by taking them to a major rock concert? Well, if you are Kitty Pryde, the youngest member of the mutant superhero team the X-Men, the answer is simple—borrow the X-Men's limo and get your teammate/mentor Wolverine to play chauffer. Problem: Wolverine is not in the mood to drive around a bunch of teenage brats. Solution: Kitty tries getting on Wolverine's good side by throwing him a surprise birthday party and inviting his Japanese girlfriend for a visit. Too bad no one told Kitty that Wolverine's arch nemesis Sabretooth always tracks down Wolverine on his birthday to beat him up and torment those closest to him. Writer Fred Van Lente and artist Andrea Di Vito deliver another fun X-Men adventure that juxtaposes the lives of naive Kitty and worldly Wolverine in a way that is both entertaining and believable. As an additional plus, the story is told in a single issue (something rare in this age of multiple-issue comic book storylines) making it a fun, fast read. Reviewer: Michael Jung
