Meet the Author

Gertrude Chandler Warner, a teacher, wrote bookss that were both easy and fun to read. This story, like the other 18 in the now-classic Boxcar Children series, which has sold over 3 million copies in paperback, features children solving problems and acting responsibly without the supervision of adults. Gertrude Chandler Warner was a lifelong resident of Putman, Connecticut, until her death in 1979 at the age of 89.

Phyllis Newman began her career as a child entertainer in vaudeville. She later gained recognition as a gifted entertainer in many Broadway productions, earning a Tony Award for her role in Subways Are For Sleeping. Phyllis also appears on television series wuch as One Life To Live and "thirtysomething".

    I love this book period I would so highly recommend it and if you asked me what books you could read I would tell you The Boxcar Children first

    Book

    I loved this book! I read it many times. It is simply a lovely book. This is a wonderful series of books. Sometimes I can imagine what it is like on that island. I can'nt wait for more books to read! Other boxcar children book are fun to read too! I've read most of the books. I LOVE the boxcor children!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Great Classroom or Family Read

    This series is great. My second grader and I read it together as a family. We just started the series, and love it. My other daughter teacher has read it to them in class. The children go on these great adventures. Wonderful books!

    great book so far

    well i like reading the first one so i got this and its a very good book its disicptive and intresting i would recamend this whole series to peole tha are 7 to 65 its a good book you dont want to look away. i mean, you should buy all the books amd enjoy em like never before on the nook.are you good enough to read this? heres how you can know 1 you can it really fast outload 2 you undersantnd every word and 3 you can write a good summary in reveiws thats how to know if your good enough to read this book so see abd write a summary on here and i will see if your good enough so read this book read it read it read it read it read it read it read it read it read it read it read it read it read it read it?????|`~

    Awesome book

    I just think the bocar children series are such good books .They teach children lessons by solving mysteries and they watch and take care of each other at all times which is setting good examples for the kiddos who read these astonishing books

    Suprise Island,which is #2 in the Boxcar Children series is a great book.You should seriously consider reading it.I reccomend it for all readers 9yrs of age and up.It has to be close to my favorite out of the whole series !!!!!!!!!!!!!

    This book is very good! You would never geuss all the surpizes the boxcar children get in one trip! I amReading the whole seires so beilve me it WAS great!!!!!!!
