Overview

This collection of testimonies by people who've found new life in the Catholic Church is one of the most potent weapons for the Faith ever crafted! These authors don't just tell their stories - they also give you an insider's view of the fatal weaknesses in the creeds and belief systems that beckon unwary Catholics every day: Fundamentalism, New Age paganism, Mormonism, materialistic hedonism, and many others. You'll discover why these converts forsook beliefs cherished by their families and friends in order to enter the Catholic Church. Their reasons are so compelling that you can use them to draw your own non-Catholic friends and relatives to the Faith. These converts will also convince your wavering Catholic friends to stay Catholic, and they'll even bolster your own faith when anti-Catholic arguments start to make you doubt. You'll come away with new gratitude that God has given you the Faith and with a strong new tool you can use to stand proudly for that Faith.

    Too good to keep!

This surprise is too good to keep. After reading the journeys of faith of the various contributors, I decided the truth was too good to keep for myself and I am going to buy a number of copies of this book to give to friends who may have misunderstandings about our Catholic faith. The treasures found in the Catholic Church need to be explained and the journeys of those finding them seems like an ideal way to do this. Especially regarding the Holy Eucharist and the other sacraments.

    I was surprised!

I was lucky to receive a copy of Surprised By Truth 2 from a friend. I was not a practicing Catholic, and I wasn't comfortable practicing any Protestant faiths because each's doctrine didn't seem right or make sense to me. But when I read the fifteen conversion stories in Surprised By Truth 2, written by people of all backgrounds and all faiths, I was awakened to the truth. A wiccan, a Methodist, a Mormon, a Miss Ohio who didn't practice anything, and many others all found truth in the Catholic faith. I especially liked the story of the Protestant missionary who went to Guatamala to convert Catholics but ended up converting herself to Catholicism! Her story is what especially set me off to research Catholicism more and eventually join the Catholic Church. I recommend this book to all those who are struggling to find truth. You will find it in this book!

A sequel that's equal, if not better than the first.

Granted, as a contributor to this volume, I am biased, but Surprised by Truth 2 is a welcome sequel to Patrick Madrid's first best-seller. This volume features 15 stories, whereas the previous book featured 11. This one features stories of conversion from individuals of diverse backgrounds (Mormon, pagan, Lutheran, Protestant missionary, etc.) whereas the previous book featured primarily Evangelical Protestants. Each story makes for compelling and convincing reading, and each one can be read rather quickly. The historical and biblical evidence for Catholicism will leave non-Catholics yearning to learn more, and cradle Catholics all the stronger in their faith. Many of these stories are from the pages of Envoy Magazine, but collectively they are a strong testament to Christ and His Church, and the power of the Holy Spirit in the lives of individuals.
