Overview

For William and Sarah, that game begins with growing up, in the unspoiled mountains of Colorado. In a time and space as clear as the Rocky Mountain skies above, these young souls together learn about life, what matters most, what endures, what doesn’t, and about love. Innocent young love moves ever so surely toward lives they both can picture, lives spent loving each other in a place they know so well and cherish.
Will and Sarah are ecstatically swept away in the swells of new love. And it is in their rarefied bliss that they make the fragile promise of first love, a promise that fate will soon rock and pound into doubt, guilt, and epiphany.
Unexpected and unprepared, these young lovers are suddenly torn apart, first by distance, and then by the far greater pressures of temptation that test the very fidelity of their heart-held promise. No longer able to console each other, hold each other, touch each other, they face the inevitable decision: move on to other loves, or cling to the faith that they will someday be together, again.
Will and Sarah stare down an unknown path, sensing destiny will not wait long before it comes to take them. Wracked with doubt, they wonder if their love was real. Caged by guilt, they both feel tempted by others intent on stealing their hearts.
Fate plays hardest when love is tested. And Will and Sarah are no exception, letting go of their happy past to embrace hope for an uncharted future. Love plays hardest when fate tests. And so it is, even through their trials of the heart, Will and Sarah never really stop loving each other. Theirs is a love so real and pure that each just wants the other to find happiness, even if it's with another.
But fate does not surrender so easily. Dealing blow upon blow, both Will and Sarah are each struck by jolting events that take them to the very edge of life, itself. What happens to love when life is on the line? Can they both relinquish control when love is on the line? Will fate even allow them to find out?

I like to think of myself as many things. I can be as alluring as the love that flows from my pen: pure, honest, simple. But then, like a storm that suddenly appears over the mountain, I can also have you running for shelter where there's no place to hide. Like life, itself, I try to deliver the hard with the soft, the pain with the joy, the instant with the forever. All of it, for a reason. And it's there that one can best enter my life. Growing up in the blue sky country of Colorado doesn't leave an impression, it becomes a lifeblood. For me, the clarity of that truth flows through my stories, my characters and my inherent spirituality that somehow knows faith, in the end, triumphs over despair. And then, there's serendipity. I believe everything happens for a reason, and I try to listen to the signs that present themselves to me. I accepted one such sign when I moved from my beloved Colorado to an unknown life awaiting me in Southern California, where I happily live today. In the quiet mornings, you'll find me savoring my coffee, outside. To me, it's all about listening, breathing in, appreciating being here for another day. And of course, there's time spent in the mountains, fishing, and wading in creeks with the people I love. Curiously, the girl who comes from the mile-high mountains, still fears the miles-deep ocean I frequently visit, but only to sink my toes in the hot sand and watch, in awe and respect, the thundering surf. On any given day, be it in the mountains, at the beach, or on my terrace, I am dreaming and writing, my way of sharing something meaningful with those who come to know me through my stories.

Sarah and Will have know each other since they were babies. their families do everything together, eat, spend time. In the small town where they live times are hard and families are struggling to stay afloat. The only people who are staying afloat are the Thornton's who own the lumber yard. Their daughter Margaret is the same age as Sarah and Will. As Will and Sarah get a bit older their feeling start changing towards one another. And they declare their love for each other, promising to spend the rest of there lives together. Will even carves a symbol into a tree truck. But fate steps in the way, when Sarah's Dad loses his farm and gets a job thousands of miles away. They move to California to work for Oscar. Oscar and Ellie have a farm and a son Adley the same age as Sarah. With chores to be done Sarah and Adley spend a lot of time together growing closer as time goes on. Mean while Will is spending a lot of time with Margaret and they grow closer. Until fates steps in and a chain of events start happening. I was hooked reading this story. It was so compelling I couldn't put it down. Its a story of sweet love and decisions. I loved Sarah and Will, and Adley. But Margaret is one of those girls you just want to shout at. Jacelyn does a great job of extracting these emotions out of you. There wasn't any part of the book I hated, apart from it finishing. The descriptions and storyline is prefect I could picture everything Jacelyn was setting out. Jacelyn, This book is amazing Thank you for letting me read an Arc copy. I cant wait to read shattered by Fate.

LOVED !! Got the first book free and usually hate having to purchase more to get to the end of a story...except for this. I would buy it all over again. Actually stopped everything I was supposed to be doing and read books 2 and 3 back to back with no sleep. I read a lot, seriously too much, and this 3 part story is at the top of my list. Cannot recommend it enough.

Beautiful and heartbreaking. I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. A story about two young people who fall in love at a young age. However their love is not an easy one and they are torn apart and both individually suffer so much heart ache. It will be up to fate to someday bring these two lovers together once again. One of the most beautiful but heart-breaking stories I've ever read. I didn't quite know what to expect when I started to read this story but it was so much more than I could have imagined. It was a beautiful love story filled with so many heart-breaking moments, and I desperately need the second book because I need to read the HEA I am so hoping for. The two main characters in this book are Will and Sarah. I loved these two from the very first page, and their love for each other at such a young age was so strong and innocent. Will was such a gentlemen and the way he spoke to Sarah, the way he was toward her, is what every girl hopes her boyfriend will be towards them. He's brave, protective, loving, so kind and is one of my favourite male characters ever. Sarah was such a sweet girl who struggled so hard when she moved, and I could feel my heart breaking for her when she had to say goodbye, it was the first scene that had me crying and praying that these two lovers would remain strong and find each other again one day. I detested Margaret and literally can't stand her. She is manipulative, mean, cruel, spoiled... .I could go on and on about her negative personality, but I'll let you read the story and see for yourself just how much of a horrible women she is. Where with most of the characters I either loved or hated, I can't decide about Adley- he seemed so sweet through most of the book, if a little demanding, but I truly believe that's because he loves her but one of the last scenes with him and Sarah had me hesitating a bit, but then I think I should try and understand his attitude considering the circumstances. In terms of the actual story I don't really want to say too much as I don't want to give anything away. But I will say that it was beautiful but devastatingly sad all at the same time. It defiantly kept me turning page after page, and it also had me full out crying, especially the last few chapters. I don't think I'll be able to properly get into another book until I have read the second one of this series because that ending has left me in tears and praying that everything is going to work out okay. These two young people and their families have been through so much heart ache throughout this story, I don't quite know how they all will, but they all deserve to have some much needed happiness in their lives. I definitely recommend this book with a warning to readers that it does have a cliffhanger ending and that you will need a box of tissues next to you for the tears you will surely shed. I will be buying the second book as soon as it is released, and I really hope there isn't too long to wait. I need to finish Sarah's' and Will's love story and know that the other characters I also love have their own version of a happily ever after. Well done to the author to creating a old-fashioned but beautiful romance in a period of time when life was hard for so many people. I hope you are planning a HEA for Will and Sarah and I will defiantly keep a look out for more of your work. 5-stars Reviewed by Bethany

I really enjoyed this book once I got into it. At first it was a little hard to get my mindset out of today’s technology obsessed world and try to imagine the way of life in the 1940s, but once I got there, I couldn’t put it down. Sarah and Will have spent their entire lives together as friends and neighbors in Colorado. As young adults, their feelings have changed from friends to a deep love for each other. Fate steps in and changes the course of their lives….multiple times. Jacelyn does a wonderful job of describing the scenery and feelings felt by Will and Sarah. I love the alternating POVs and she even throws in POVs of other characters (FYI, I do NOT like Margaret! You’ll understand. ;) LOL). I can’t wait for Shattered by Fate, book 2 in this 3 part series. I give Surrender to Fate 4.5 stars and definitely recommend this to your TBR list. It’s a great change of pace. ~Kendra with For The Love of Books
