Overview

A Devilish Duke on a Quest for Pleasure . . .

Frannie Darling was once a child of London's roughest streets, surrounded by petty thieves, pickpockets, and worse. But though she survived this harsh upbringing to become a woman of incomparable beauty, Frannie wants nothing to do with the men who lust for her, the rogues who frequent the gaming hall where she works. She can take care of herself and feels perfectly safe on her own—safe, that is, until he strides into her world, and once again it becomes a very dangerous place indeed.

To bed her but not wed her. That's what Sterling Mabry, the eighth Duke of Greystone, wants. But Frannie abhors arrogant aristocrats interested only in their own pleasure. So why then does the thought of an illicit tryst with the devilish duke leave her trembling with desire? Her willing body begs for release . . . and a wicked, wonderful surrender.

Meet the Author

Lorraine Heath always dreamed of being a writer. After graduating from the University of Texas, she wrote training manuals, press releases, articles, and computer code, but something was always missing. When she read a romance novel, she not only became hooked on the genre, but quickly realized what her writing lacked: rebels, scoundrels, and rogues. She's been writing about them ever since. Her work has been recognized with numerous industry awards, including RWA's prestigious RITA®. Her novels have appeared on the USA Today and New York Times bestseller lists.

This is a continuation of the story of Feagan's kids; Luke and Jack have already found their loves, and now it is Frannie's turn. Sterling, a Duke and Catherine's (Luke) brother meets Frannie and desires her immediately. Frannie is tempted by his offer, but ultimately decides that she wants more than just being his lover. Circumstances continue to have them thrown together, and utimately they end up spending one precious night together. Sterling has his reasons for not wanting to get too close, and Frannie is afraid to spend any more time with him as she does not want to form any attachments. The story is well-written, engaging and I read it almost through in one sitting, well one sitting, one session on the treadmill, and then another quick sitting!

Once again Heath does not disappoint. I wish more authors would focus on the characters as well as Lorraine Heath does. To many authors fill pages with silly or unbelievable plot twists when they should be evolving the relationship. Heath does a great job staying with her characters and developing the story through them. A very satisfying read.

From the moment they laid eyes on each other----across a crowded room --They are practically drooling over each other. She can't stop thinking about him. Even though she doesn't like the aristocracy. Even though she's is 30 and has never had even the slightest interest in a man. Even though he insults her the first time they have a conversation. He of course can't stop thinking about her. Even though she is a former thief. Even though he thinks she is highly unsuitable for him---he is a duke after all. Even though she works as a bookkeeper in a gaming hall/brothel. It wasn't a bad story but definetley not one of LH best. It all turns out well of course but the instant falling for each other was over the top. They weren't a couple of sixteen year olds. Surely they had seen attractive people before. Read like the emotions of a couple of junior high school students.

LH writes solid G rated historicals. I do not expect chapter long love scenes like S Laurens, but when you go from a kiss to morning after...that is just lazy.

Loved every moment reading this one. Unlike other series where previous characters just show up for a scene or two happily married with a baby, this one has previous characters very involved in the plot. While technically you could read it as a stand alone you would be missing out on a great series full of amazing characters. The romance between the Hero and Heroine was wonderful. Full of great scenes, action, and drama. Highly recommend you read the whole series. It won't disappoint.

This is the 3rd in this series I've read and while my reading time is limited, I can't wait to pick up and see what happens next. Once you understand the characters and their past and how those histories intermingle into their daily lives and decisions, you feel as if you know a little secret as you read through.
