Overview

In this seductive novel from the author of Bound to You, two career-oriented friends with benefits discover that good morning doesn’t have to mean goodbye.

Late-night booty calls are the most romantic gesture that Carlie Jason expects from business magnate Tomas Goodfellow. Ever since they were teenagers, they’ve provided each other the kind of no-strings pleasures that don’t involve regrets. Now Carlie finds it easier to kiss and run rather than face the fact that she wants so much more. But when she takes a job as a concierge at one of Tomas’s properties, a hotel where the rich and famous get their kink on, Carlie’s tempted to reconsider the rules of surrender.

As the head of an international empire, Tomas knows how to bring out the best in his employees. Putting Carlie in charge of managing the desires of his wealthiest clients was a stroke of genius—only now that she’s close enough to touch, he finds he doesn’t want to let her go. Their long, dark history has built up intimacy in ways he’s only just beginning to understand, but Tomas isn’t ready to trust her just yet. He knows his feelings are more than skin-deep. But first he needs to convince Carlie of one thing: the ties that bind go straight to the heart.

4.0 Star review of Surrender To You (At Your Service #2) by Shawntelle Madison This is the second book in the series and is the story of Carlie Jason and business magnate Tomas Goodfellow; two friends, not adverse to a no strings attached booty call relationship. However, is that really all there is to the relationship? All is not as it seems. Tomas has been in love with Carlie forever, but she is determined not to allow her emotions to become involved, after all he left her once, what’s to stop him doing it again? The author has obviously gained confidence and that is shown in her writing style in this book. It seemed easier to follow the storyline than in the first book in the series. Although not an overly long read, I really enjoyed it. Both characters were easy to relate to and I found myself liking them both although Carlie did frustrate me on several occassions. There are certainly plenty of intense and sexy scenes with an interesting plot with some surprising twists. What will happen when Carlie is faced with a serious medical condition? Will she push away those who love and want to support her, or will she overcome her fears? Will she recognise that family is not always made of blood? You will have to read the book to find out. I received this book from the author via the publisher through Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

I was given a gifted copy by NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Carlie was abandoned by her parents when she was a baby. She was always looking for them. Working hard, she managed to open her own concierge business. Tomas belonged to an important Portuguese family. He built big luxury hotels and then sold them and started again in a different place. Both of them love each other, but they only were together for a few hours from time to time. This is the second book in the series and as I loved the first one I was looking forward to reading this one but I was very disappointed. I kept reading and reading trying to guess and see where the story went but unfortunately, it didn’t go anywhere. I didn’t understand Carlie’s behavior at all. She wants to find her parents but he doesn’t accept Tomas’ help. However, when she meets Carver, she allows him to help her. By the way, I like him. He is funny and without false pretenses. The story behind Tomas is very vague. Carlie’s work is also very vague. In fact, all the background is vague. It needs more details, more depth. There are so many things going on at the same time that none of them are developed enough.

Book 2 in the At your service series, the series is about a group of friends who came together whilst they were in the foster care system and this is Carlie's story. Carlie lived all her childhood in the system after her parents put her into foster care at 8 months old. Carlie's and Thomas have been friends with benefits for many years but they are not often in the same city or Country so it doesn't happen that often. Carlie is in Boston looking for her parents and Thomas is in town trying to sell one of his hotels. These two have chemistry and that was one of the things I loved about this book. Looking forward to book 3

I struggled with this book a lot..... the premise was really interesting but the execution left me needing more. I don't understand why the relationship between Carlie & Tomas was just based on booty calls, what happened to them when they were younger that caused a split? And Carlie's struggle to find her birth mother just didn't ring true but I might be coloring that with my own experience. It was just such a tangled up situation. These books center around a group of friends who grew up together. Told from both Carlie and Tomas's points of view. In this story Carlie is featured and shows her non-conventional relationship with Tomas. At first I found Carlie to be a not so sympathetic character, she seems to just be using Tomas and kind of selfish. As the story moves along the more we see how Carlie's past is affecting her present. In the end Carlie feels to have grown up and make smart choices. Tomas deserves a saint award, for loving and going along with the way their relationship has been. I did feel like I went through a wide range of emotions in this book; annoyed, sad, happy, sexy. I am curious if the next book is about Penny since she seemed to have a connection with Carver. 3.5Stars *I received a copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for a fair and honest review.*

A Chance At Love 3.5 Stars Surrender To You is the second book of the At Your Service series, and it’s Carlie Jason and Tomas Goodfellow’s story. I have to admit this story was interesting, in that, the main characters had an unusual relationship. With an ongoing friends with benefits relationship, they spend time together whenever they happen to find each other in the same city. Theirs is a dom/submissive sexual tryst done in impersonal play time. Through the years, this preference allows and maintains the level of feelings to go any deeper for each of them. But I think it was mainly for Carlie’s comfort. Clearly, Tomas wanted more with Carlie, and I really felt frustrated and sad along with him. Things become complicated as Carlie seeks her birth parents, and also takes a job at a hotel owned by Tomas. Soon, spending more time together changes things between them. Surrender To You grabbed me from the start, but along the way I sort of lost a bit of interest, I could not connect with the Carlie. She seems so detached and self serving. I know, I know, she has a lot of insecurities and abandonment issues which translates to relationship avoidance. She bolts at the first sign of any complication. They do have a connection and affection, but still, I was rooting for Tomas all the way. Sheesh, handsome, successful, wealthy, virile, sexy and loving, what more? I just loved Tomas as the alpha, dominant man who truly cares for Carlie and has abundant patience with her. Their road to love is bumpy, glad they take a chance but I’m not convinced of an HEA, more a HFN. Lots of sizzling sex and elements of BDSM. This was a captivating story that was a heartbreaking and heartwarming emotional ride. Written in dual POV that give you so much insight to what is behind their actions. Both of these characters are well developed and lovable. This story is well written and and is intriguing as well as suspenseful. Carlie Jason and Tomas Godfellow met ten years ago when they were teenagers. They fell in love, but when Tomas leaves her, to return home to take care of his Family's business after his father dies, he leaves Carlie abandoned yet again. Carlie has been in the foster system since she was eight months old, her life has always been filled with abandonment issues. Her only family consists of some close friends she met while she was in foster care and on the streets of New York City. Fiercely, strong and independent she has learned to never depend on someone else, and has created her own successful Personal Concierge business in London. Carlie and Tomas have had a friends with benefits relationship, since he left her. But these encounters are few and far between. It has been four years since they have seen each other, when she arrives in Boston to find her birth mother and father. It has been five long years that she has been trying to find them. When she finds out that the information she has is old she sets out to keep searching. After a month with no results and her savings running low she takes a job in Tomas's prestiges Hotel without his knowledge. Tomas Godfellow loves Carlie Jason. When he realizes she is working in his hotel he is consumed by her being with in his reach, but knows she is still so far away from where he wants her. Tomas has always let Carlie control their relationship, on her terms. But as he learns of her secret that she is struggling with, he must let her make that final step to him on her own or risk losing her altogether. Both of theses characters are complicated as well as their relationship. Will Carlie find her birth parents? Will they get their HEA? You will have to read to find out. I am a bit conflicted with this one. I enjoyed the first installment of this series, but I am not so sure about this one. Always on the run from feelings and love, Carlie has only allowed Tomas to be a booty call. But there is more there for both of them, if only she would allow it. I felt very sad for Tomas and honestly, I am getting annoyed that so many authors are portraying woman as adults when they are always running, .... literally, from their man. Are the guys supposed to chase them? Is that realistic? Why do the guys have to work so damn hard for their relationship? Carlie did not treat Tomas well and has been a user for so many years. Even at the ending, their HEA felt tentative at best. This chick needs to lighten up and grow up! The author did include a ton of steamy sex with a touch of erotica and Tomas was a dream boat and so very sweet. That was the save for this story. I just wish Carlie was a nicer person * copy rec'd for review purposes

Thanks to Random House Publishing Group - Loveswept via NetGalley for a copy of this book! This is the first book I've read by Shawntelle Madison and I noticed this was book 2 in the At Your Service series. However, I think this could be read as a stand alone and I wasn't lost at all while reading it! Loved the blurb written on this book! I knew it was going to be a good one and it did not disappoint! Carlie and Tomas are friends with benefits since they were teens. Now that they are adults Carlie wants so much more! She takes a job at a hotel that Tomas owns where "the rich and famous get their kink on" . Tomas is rich, handsome and is the head of an international empire....enough said! How does it work out with Carlie working at his place? Will these two move forward from "friends with benefits" to admitting their love for each other? I enjoyed this book! Loved the story line and the characters!

**arc provided by Net_Galley and the publisher in exchange for honest review** I liked this book much better than the first. This story of Carlie and Tomas, having history both in and out of the bedroom. Carlie living in London running a concierge service and Tomas a successful businessman and hotelier. Carlie has returned to the US in hopes of finding her biological parents and her usual hook up with Tomas. He clearly loves Carlie and has reconciled himself to what little she offers him, which is a brief hookup, every couple years. And always at her choice. Carlie comes to the US this time with another problem, that being diagnosed with an auto immune disorder which she withholds from Tomas. Circumstances leave Carlie needing a job and she ends up being hired at Tomas' very exclusive hotel in Boston that has one floor dedicated to those who indulge in kink. We watch the story unfold, the author tells this story from a dual POV, with snips of their thoughts on the pages as well. I loved both the characters, even Carlie's reticence at times because it seemed to suit her. Tomas gets extra credit for his consistent love for her, regardless of her response. I thought they were well fleshed out, the backstory was just that, didn't overpower the story of these two primaries and the ending was totally fitting. I really enjoyed this book.

Title: Surrender to You Author: Shawntelle Madison Genre: Contemporary Romance Format: Ebook Pages: 200 Rating: 4 Heat: 5 Thoughts: This was hot, and so much fun to read. I loved how Carlie and Tomas were continually drawn to each other. Their relationship broke because of decisions in the past but they would still seek each other out when needing strength. The hotel that Tomas owns ends up being the place where Carlie gets a job and she would walk away if she didn't need the money. She ends up working on the exclusive 22nd floor (I wonder if they really exist lol) where anything goes. Guests wander around naked, screw wherever, and get treated like royalty. As Carlie searches for her parents her relationship with Tomas, which normally just consists of what most would call a booty call, becomes much more. The chemistry between the two is undeniable but can they get past the hurt and move forward? And will Carlie find everything she's been looking for along with her parents? Oh, and can I have Tomas lol? He is so sweet and patient. Please note that I received a complimentary copy of this work in exchange for an honest review.

This is the second installment in this series and it is Carlie and Tomas' story. They get together when they are in the same city but never stay until dawn and never kiss. Carlie has abandonment issues and is looking for her parents and that is the reason she has come back to the States and after the address she went to empty she comes to the decision to continue her search. In order to continue, she has to get a job and the temporary agency sends her to the Goodfellow Towers (Tomas' Hotel) and she is the perfect fit. There is a lot going on, including a lot of whining about having to eat gluten free (seriously! whining!) and some interesting hotel characters. **Received a copy of this from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review**

This is the second book in the At Your Service series by Shawntelle Madison, and this is Carlie's story. Carlie's whole life she has been running away from things, mostly Tomas Goodfellow, the sweet guy she fell in love with when she was 17. When Tomas abruptly left New York to go back to his homeland after his father passed away, it left Carlie feeling abandoned. Now the only time she sees Tomas is when they hook up for the occasional fling all over the world. Carlie has made the decision to try and find her birth parents and the latest information she has says that they are in Boston. Carlie decides to leave London and go back to Boston and stay until she can find them. She also knows that Tomas is in Boston and decides to hook up with him. What Carlie doesn't know is that Tomas longs to have a real relationship with her, but every time he tries, Carlie does her usual and runs away. I really liked the characters of Carlie and Tomas. They still had a lot of their innocence in them from when they first met, but are also changed from things that have happened in their lives. It was obvious these two still love each other. The story line of Carlie finding her parents was pretty emotional. You just couldn't help wanting her to find her happiness that she has been running from most of her life. Overall, I really enjoyed this story.

This is the second book in the At Your Service series from this author and while I will say I enjoyed it more than the first, it is still just an ok read. I have a really hard time connecting with the characters in this one. Tomas and Carlie have a no strings booty call when in town arrangement. Why, I'm not sure. Tomas hurt her once long ago but Carlie still welcomes him back. He's in love with her but doesn't want to push too hard and doesn't want to lose the relationship???? they have now. Not sure what else to call what they have. If she's as strong and confident as portrayed, why in the world would she settle for so little or not be strong enough to ask for more. It's all just a bit confusing to me. The sexy times are definitely sizzling but I just didn't fell the chemistry between the two.

Book #2 in the At Your Service series is an thought provoking story of hitting and running in a relationship for many years and what it does to a person/persons. It was interesting to see how both of these two main characters handled their feelings for each other. For me it pained me to see them both hurting more than they needed to. Tomas and Carlie both get to a point that they can't deal with the pain of being together or being apart. This was realistic in my opinion. I have watched friends in relationships like this where they can't live with each other and they can't live without each other. This type of relationship causes me great angst and the authors writing clearly effected me. I think the author's writing continues to grow and in this book she shows more emotional impact to the characters and their actions than Bound to You book #1 of the series. The girlfriends are still crazy but they are starting to grow on me. I give this 3-1/2 STARS. A copy was gifted for a honest review

Where's the rest of the story? I mean this is book 2 and I have not read the previous one yet so maybe that's why it feels like something was missing. I received an ARC of Surrender To You in exchange for an honest review. I expected the lusty sensuality that Ms. Madison delivered on wholeheartedly but I did not expect that to be all that was to the story. Carlie and Tomas obviously had chemistry but the story lacked substance. This just didn't work for me.
