Overview

In the New York Times best-seller Surrendering to Marriage, Iris Krasnow offers a raw and penetrating portrait of modern marriage and the backbreaking work required to make it last. With joyous, sexy, and shocking stories of real marriages, real affairs, and real divorces, Surrendering to Marriage moves far beyond a how-to manual; Krasnow shows us that a successful marriage has less to do with bursts of bliss, and everything to do with embracing the ordinary in our day-to-day relationships.

Editorial Reviews

Denver Post
Krasnow writes with passion, elegance and humor about the satisfaction and ultimate joy of knuckling down to the gritty work of sustaining a marriage.
US News And World Report
Surrendering to Marriage is contrary to the "yes, dear" approach touted in the similarly titled The Surrendered Wife.
New Yorker Magazine
Krasnow does get to something that the other discontented-wives books don't; that marriage does not provide happiness, though it can often provide an environment in which to experience happiness.
Time Magazine
One book, The Rules for Marriage, will get a lot of attention. But the other, Surrendering to Marriage, is the one to read.
O The Oprah Magazine
Krasnow acknowledges all the temptations, all the pain, and still shows us that the long, gray corridors of our daily lives are in fact blessed places where we can, if we try, find our true happiness.

This book covers all of the good and bad elements of marriage. It depicts a true picture of what a "real" marriage is. Enough of the fairy tales and those happily ever afters, they just don't exist. Marriage is full of trials and tribulations, love and dislike, happiness and sadness, contentment and betrayal. Everyone, men and women, hetero- or homo-sexual entering into marriage or a committed relationship should read this book. Everyone who has been in a committed relationship or marriage for however long should read this book. Read it, highlight it, read it again. You will be happier, more fulfilled and at peace with your partner and your relationship.
