Editorial Reviews

School Library Journal

Gr 4-6 -In the sequel (Scholastic, 2001) to Gordon Korman's Shipwreck (Scholastic, 2001), four shipwrecked teens who were on a month-long trip for youngsters with disciplinary problems arrive on a seemingly deserted island searching for food and shelter. About halfway through the story, the group reunites with two other teens who also survived the boating accident. When a plane lands on the island, the teens witness a murder and decide it would be dangerous to come out of hiding. The men are smugglers dealing in ivory tusks and rare animal parts. In addition, the island once housed a military base during WWII and is still home to the third atomic bomb. There are numerous neat coincidences, but they do add suspense to the story. Holter Graham's narration is pleasant, but he provides few unique voices for the characters. Those new to the series will have no trouble following the plot and will eagerly await the next volume.-Stephanie Farnlacher, Trace Crossings Elementary School, Hoover, AL

This book is incredibly brilliant. It uses rich adjectives and strong nouns that grasp you by the throat and pulls you in. IT stands out from all the other books with crisp action and incredible plot that he slowly feeds you. This is a have to read book. that you will have to read. The one thing that dissapoints me about this book is that it ends.

Ian, Luke, Charla, and Will have survived a terrible shipwreck and one week on the open seas with no food and scarce water. Now, they have landed on a tropical island in the middle of nowhere. Will is suffering from amnesia, and the kids don't even know if J.J. and Lyssa are still alive. The only human beings on this lonely island, they must make a fire, build a shelter, and gather food and water to sustain them - in addition to searching for Will, who has run off into the jungle. When a plane lands on the island, the kids hope to be rescued - but instead, they find themselves in the middle of some very dangerous and illegal dealings. Now the kids have a far bigger problem than simple survival - they have to hide all traces of their existence, or they won't have any hope at all of making it out of this alive. Gordon Korman continues his thrilling Island trilogy with book two, which picks up right where book one left off. I can't wait to read the third book and find out if the kids survive and make it off the island.

But I hope it is a good ending cause its getting good as the book go's on. They found Lyssa and J.J. They had found food it was mac and cheese. i recommend this book for people that like short reading and a series of book.

This book takes place on an island like in the middle of no where. There are six kids living on this island with no food or cloths. After they survived the shipwreck and lived on the island for a while they start fight, they get attacked by snakes and they try to find away to get home. The kids really want to get home to be with there family and friends. The thing that I liked most about the book was how they were able to experiencing a ship wreaks and how they were able to help each other out a lot. The thing that I did not like about the book was how the kids were left on an island with no real food and no real drinks and how every time a plan went over them they would try to get the plans addition the plan would never see them. This book is a part of a series and if you would want to under stand the book fully you would need to read the entire book. This book reminds me of the televion show Lost and Survive. The people that would enjoy this book would be the people who like to watch Lost and Survive.

This book was just as good or better than Shipwreck! Lyssa and J.J. are nowhere to be found, Will has amnesia and can't remember anyone, and Luke, Charla, and Ian must find food, shelter, and a way to escape. But are they really alone on this uncharted island? Find out in this incredible, suspenseful, and well written book!

This book is about six kids Will, Luke, Lan, Lyssa, and Charla and J.J. First they get shipwrecked. Next they get stranded on a deserted island but the worst is that there are murderers on the island!I like this book because itis exciting. This book is exciteing because bad things keep happening to the kids and you don't know if they will suvive. I recommend this book to people who like excitement because it is exciting. I would recommend this book for third and fourth graders. If you like Robinson Crusoe you will like this book.

The reason I chose this book was because it looked like a survival book that would be adventurous. The book looked like it was just at the right reading level for me. I thought the book would be about six kids stranded on a desert island. They needed to work together to build a shelter, find food and drinking water. I felt that this book would be very exciting and thrilling to read. Mr. Turner read us the first book of Island The Shipwreck. The book Island: Survival was very detailed and very easy to understand. The book also had a lot of emotion in it and sad memories. I felt that the ending was very good. However the book was not what I expected because it had a bit more violence. And there were way more exciting things in it than I expected. I did not especially feel the same about the book. An example of an exciting part was when Ian and Luke snuck into the office of the unwanted visitors and the found a folder that was looking for bombs from the civil war. The bombs were called Fat Man, Little Boy and Junior. An example of violence was when the Rat Face and the Doberman were having a fight. Red Hair shot Rat Face. But the Doberman died because of the fight with Rat Face. After that they found Will crying in pain behind a bush. This story is about six kids who are stuck on a desert island they are stranded and they are separated. They have no food or any drinking water. They need to work together in order to survive. Nobody knows they are lost. They must take from the island. But what if they aren¿t alone. This type of book is fiction. Luke, like a leader knows what do mostly. Ian is the very smart one who knows how to build a shelter and what food they can eat. Will, for most off the story, has lost his memory. Will thinks that the others are trying to kill him and he is trying to save his sister Lyssa from the others. But the other kids are not trying to kill him they are trying to find him! Charla is the athletic kid who can catch fish with her own hand while she is swimming. Lyssa is pretty violent but sometimes she is nice and helps out. J.J thinks this is all set up by CNC, a movie company, and that Red Hair and the other unwanted visitors are just actors. The setting of this book is of the map but it is about 500 or 600 miles from Guam. The island has lots of food and plenty of rainwater and twigs, sticks and logs to make a fire and shelter. The author of this book is Gordon Korman. Korman was born October 23, 1963 in Montreal, Quebec in Canada and his first book was This can¿t be happening at Macdonald Hall. Korman has written more then thirty novels now including island book one, two and three. The reason I liked this book was it was easy to understand for example the beginning the author explains how the kids got to the island. That was pretty much their biggest challenge surving a forty-fete wave. The other reason I liked this book was that the book explained how to build a shelter with stick and logs of wood and how to fish for food in the ocean. I liked the author because he put a lot of excitement in the story like Red hair. and Rat face (the pig). I think nine, ten and eleven year olds should read this book. Kids reading this book will learn a lot because there are complicated words and some violence. They will also learn about survival skills.

This book is about 6 kids who go on this boat called the Pheonix. The boat gets shipwrecked and th captin drowned. 2 kids did not survive. The other 4 tryies to survive on rain water and food from the island until they get rescued. They survive through a jungle that has things you don't want to go through. Th bugs and food are almost dangerous and no other clothes! Yuck! This is an adventure the would never forget. In this volume their friend Will goes crazy and he doesn't remeber them at all. He doesn't remember the shipwreck or anything that happened. I recommend these books to people who like adventure and survival books.

This book is a good addition to the series, because the first just left you wondering what'd happen next. I only gave it 4 because it is not as long as I had intended it to be. So, anyways, if you haven't read the first, then don't start this one until you do, but for the rest of you, read it! This is a great book, and you should get it while you can.I won't spoil the rest like some OTHER reviews. And If you have an XBOX, and Halo 2, get Xbox Live, it's the best!

I like island because they find 1 atomic many men with guns. They need to get of the so the men don't kill them like they killed one of there men. With Will unconscious and Will can't remember a thing. What they eat is finger bannanas and coconuts. And all they drink is coconut milk.
