Overview

Painstakingly researched by an authority on the history of the Secret Service and based on primary, firsthand accounts from more than 80 former agents, White House aides, and family members, this is the definitive account of what went wrong with John F. Kennedy’s security detail on the day he was assassinated. The work provides a detailed look at how JFK could and should have been protected and debunks numerous fraudulent notions that persist about the day in question, including that JFK ordered agents off the rear of his limousine; demanded the removal of the bubble top that covered the vehicle; and was difficult to protect and somehow, directly or indirectly, made his own tragic death easier for an assassin or assassins. This book also thoroughly investigates the threats on the president’s life before traveling to Texas; the presence of unauthorized Secret Service agents in Dealey Plaza, the site of the assassination; the failure of the Secret Service in monitoring and securing the surrounding buildings, overhangs, and rooftops; and the surprising conspiratorial beliefs of several former agents. An important addition to the canon of works on JFK and his assassination, this study sheds light on the gross negligence and, in some cases, seeming culpability, of those sworn to protect the president.

AN ESSENTIAL HISTORY OF THE ASSASSINATION Vince Palamara's exh

AN ESSENTIAL HISTORY OF THE ASSASSINATION

Vince Palamara's exhaustive research, found in “Survivor's Guilt”, into the Secrete Service and it's role in the assassination of JFK, either by complacency or something more sinister has spanned the last 24 years of Mr Palamara's life. Simply put no-one has interviewed more agents involved in the case than Vince Palamara. The accuracy of his research and “willingness to tell it like is” has be praised by no less an authority as Former Reagan Secret Service chief Robert DeProspero. Even the most ardent of conspiracy deniers, Vincent Bugliosi, has acknowledged that Vince's work is “exhaustive, reasonably well researched”, and acknowledges he make's a strong case for the Secret Service's incompetence even if for him it did not add up to proving complicity in the murder.

Mr Palamara details changes that were inexplicably made to the protection of President Kennedy on that fateful day in Dallas. To note a few: Agents on the back of the car, escort by Police Motorcycles to the side of the Motorcade, and use of the bubble-top were frequent elements of his protection in other cities both in and out of the US but were absent in Dallas where JFK's popularity was low and hostility was openly expressed.

I have known the author for over 40 years. No-one has pursued the truth of this case more selflessly, for less personal profit and in a less prejudiced way than Vince. He started merely curious about the subject and was led by the Agent's own admissions to conclusions that were contrary to his initial preconceptions Ironically, I was personally present for a couple of the calls made to the agents involved in the case as they occurred from my home (“I still have my phone records Mr. Hill”) and can attest to the accuracy of what is stated here

While the book holds up amazingly well whether from the perspective of a “lone-nut” or a second shooter, it is essential to anyone's understanding the larger implications of what occurred to that day and the new America that was midwifed with those gunshots in November 1963.

!]Having read an advanced copy of Vincent's book, let me just tell you that "Survivor's Guilt: The Service Service and the Failure to Protect the President" is THE best book ever written on the Secret Service (and the JFK assassination, as well). What's more, "SURVIVOR'S GUILT" TOTALLY DEBUNKS "THE KENNEDY DETAIL" BY GERALD BLAINE! President Kennedy did not order the agents off his limousine; there was no morning-of-JFK's-funeral meeting as Blaine alleged (made up); JFK was not responsible for the small number of motorcycles allotted to his limousine in Dallas; President Kennedy, contrary to mythology, was not responsible for the bubbletop's removal; and soooo much more! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED- Vince deserves a medal for how extremely well researched and documented this book is. Blaine has ALOT of explaining to do!

BEST RESEARCHED BOOK EVER! Mr. Palamara certainly did his homework on this one. My God, these agents left Kennedy hanging out to dry. I do believe Oswald acted alone but that is beside the point. PALAMARA'S BOOK IS A GAME-CHANGER: the Secret Service "protectors" left him an easy mark, a sitting duck, a man on an island. I am already rereading it- took the day off and have been reading non-stop. This book is devastating to anyone who believes agent memoirs from the past several years and all those crocodile tears.

Avoid one-star reviews by Blaine's friends: they are still hanging on to the belief in the friend who is a coward and a quitter. He quit the Service after only 5 years and was so low in the dirt that they didn't want to know him or use his computer crime software. People don't like quitters.~~~~ in any event, Palamara's book is first-rate and highly recommended to people were were hoodwinked by propaganda and lies.

This is the best book ever on the Secret Service and the JFK assassination! Author Palamara deserves kudos for the depth of research. The agents were useless bums that day. They should all be tried as war criminals

This book is very well written and researched and is devastating to Gerald Blaine's credibility. Vince Palamara thoroughly debunks Blaine's book. It is obvious Lisa McCubbin was in it for the money when she co-wrote their books

My mind has been blown by the revelations contained in this book. The depth of research is truly scholarly and stellar- the author interviewed and corresponded with a whopping 80+ former agents! As it turns out, JFK did not ever ask the Secret Service to stay away. Whether Oswald acted alone (which I do not think he did) is beside the point- these agents let him get killed. A recommended book for all ages

I was taken aback by this book, as I do not normally go for this sort of thing, being more of a romance novel lady haha. This is very good. I think the Secret Service men of the 1960's should be held criminally liable for the death of J.F.K."

I honestly didn not think anyone could move me to think something was truly out of the ordinary when President Kennedy was killed. I had thought Oswald did it and that was all she wrote. This fine book shows me I was wrong. I give this work the highest rating possible

my one prevailing thought after reading an advanced "sneak preview" of this amazing book: Oh, my God...while we were wasting our times with the parlor game of "who killed Kennedy", the REAL question before us all this time was "why did the Secret Service let Kennedy get killed and blame him for his own death afterwards?" I am astonished. Can we send Gerald Blaine and his pals to Abu Ghraib prison- is it too late for some water boarding techniques? I threw my copy of Blaine's volume in the trash can where it belongs. i am truly ashamed I wasted money on that pack of lies that reads like Good Housekeeping. Bravo Mr Palamara for setting the record straight. Can the agents be tried as war criminals???
