Overview

The all-new soul-shattering climax to the post-apocalyptic trilogy, featuring a deadly virus, military action, global devastation—and zombies.

The long-awaited finale of Z.A. Recht’s “action-packed zombie extravaganza” (Ryan C. Thomas) that began with the acclaimed novels Plague of the Dead and Thunder and Ashes. . . .

THE MORNINGSTAR STRAIN WAS THE END OF THE WORLD.

In the wake of the zombie apocalypse, two separate bands of survivors journey across a decimated America, each with the desperate goal of finding the cure for the virulent plague that threatens the existence of humankind—or what’s left of it. Now it’s up to these inheritors of the future to outlive their waking nightmare, any way they can.

BUT FOR THESE SURVIVORS, IT IS JUST THE BEGINNING.

One group includes a brilliant virologist; for the other, an immune soldier proves invaluable. Battling infected and marauding raiders at every turn, the teams soon uncover the devious plans of Sawyer, an agent of the Chairman of the Reunited States of America, who believes that Dr. Anna Demilio already has the cure, and he will stop at nothing to find her. Now, with the salvation of the world and their own souls on the line, how far will the survivors go to emerge victorious?

A great 3 book series. I hated for it to end. it was sort of a happy sad ending. all the charectors that made it, and those who didn't. I will continue to re-read the series, it's that good.

These three books had me hooked from page one!! I loved the characters and that the story centered around them instead of the "undead" chracters. I enjoyed the immense military presense in the books. There were times when I was scared to death to read another page and times I laughed outloud. Other times, I was so devistated that it was difficult to let it go once I put the book down. Read these books!!

Satisfying end to a great trilogy. Takes a bit to get going, but if you're new to the series or have been waiting 3+ years for this installment to come out, it does a great job of getting you back into the narrative. Thom Brannan did a great job taking the partial manuscript and completing the book after Z.A.'s tragic early death. You really can't tell who wrote which parts and it fits into the overall story as well as could be expected. Thumbs up to Permuted Press for updating the About the Author info in the book to reflect that he has passed, instead of trying to dupe the readers into believing that the author is still alive! I hate it when novels do that, like anything by Andrew Britton. Another of my favorite authors whose series has continued after his untimely death, but they don't list the secondary author on the cover and his bio on the last page says he still lives with his wife and stuff. The book more or less begins right where Thunder & Ashes ended...a little into the future and the groups of people have dug in a bit more and in some instances, become a bit complacent with their lives. It continues the drive established in the first two books to a very satisfying conclusion. Highly recommended for any Zombie fan, and a must read for anybody who read the first two.

I couldn't stop reading this series. As soon add I finished one book, I had to get my hands on the next. Now that I'm done with it, I wish there was a follow up book to really tie everything into a neat little bow

This entire trilogy has been a great read. It's sad the author has passed and we won't be able to see any more of his work. Highly recommend reading the series.

I have to agree with the previous review it was a good book but lacked something the other two had. But what i didnt get was how peopke that died normally from bullets or trauma cam back to life as undead i cant remember that happening in the first two books i know morning starr reanimated the people but how did they come back if they wernt bitten or scratched?

I did love the book but it was not as great as I thought it would be. After waiting so many years for it to be finish I was a bit dissapointed in it . I have to say it but you can tell two different people wrote it because they have different writing styles . The ghost writer did a good job of trying to keep to the story at hand but did have things that did not make sense or where in reference to things that did not happen in the other books. I'll miss Z A writing style and I think our lost of him is great he was a wonderful writer and the world has lost a good man . Ghost writer you did a good job and I am glad that you finished the book.
