Editorial Reviews

From Barnes & Noble
The Barnes & Noble Review
Even if you’ve purchased the retail SUSE Linux 10 -- which comes with that rarity, a printed manual -- you owe it to yourself to get SUSE Linux 10 Unleashed. In 670-plus pages, Mike McCallister offers up great tips and techniques for everything from personal multimedia to programming your own dynamic web site. (You say you haven’t purchased SUSE at retail? Just install from this book’s CD-ROM, and you’re good to go.)

McAllister covers the waterfront: installation and configuration; SUSE’s updated desktops; OpenOffice.org 2.0 and Mozilla; and a whole lot more. In eight full chapters on system administration, McAllister helps you wrangle everything from users and disks to kernels and modules. You’ll find chapters on Perl and Python; on the built-in MySQL and PostgreSQL databases; even on SUSE’s collaboration tools. This book promises to be comprehensive, and it delivers. Bill Camarda, from the December 2005 Read Only
