About the Author

Krista Welz is a Library Media Specialist and STEM Research teacher in North Bergen High School, New Jersey. Being a lifelong resident of her town, she also worked for the town's public library for seven years as the Children’s Librarian. Krista serves on the New Jersey Department of Education's New Jersey Students Learning Standards College and Career Ready Committee and is a Novel Effect Ambassador.

She is a Google for Education Certified Trainer and Coach. She is also the co-founder of Edcamp Urban. In 2018, she was selected as a recipient of the Executive Women of New Jersey's (EWNJ) Presidential Scholarship Award.

In 2017, she was awarded North Bergen High School's Educational Services Professional of the Year, Library Journal's 2017 Mover & Shaker Educator, and was awarded as a Tech Troubadour Social Media Superstar from the American Association of School Librarians (AASL).

Krista received a Doctorate of Education in the Educational Technology Leadership Program at New Jersey City University in Spring 2019. She is also an adjunct faculty member for the Educational Technology & Literacy Education Departments. She specializes in technology integration in schools and libraries. She is a graphic, web, and game designer. She is currently working on a library consortium mobile app and plans to design a library-based time management mobile game.

Krista provides technological Professional Development for teachers in the North Bergen School District. She also teaches a research honors course for her high school's STEM program. She has won her high school's Media Center several grants, including YALSA book giveaways and James Patterson/Scholastic Reading Club's Save School Libraries grant.
