What People are saying about this

JB Thompson
Sandra Ruttan has graced the world of psychological thrillers with this fast-paced, absorbing tale, fraught with corruption, murder, mistrust, a number of unconscionable villains and two exceptionally likable protagonists, all craftily entangled in a delightfully twisted plot. Sit back and be prepared to get lost in this riveting story, because you won't want to put it down until you've turned the very last page.
Author of The Mozart Murders
JT Ellison
Suspicious Circumstances twists and turns and twists again, leaving the reader breathless and unsure which end is up. And that's just the beginning. Ruttan's deft touch intrigues and satisfies, making her a powerful new force in the mystery field.

..there is never a dull moment. It's a hard book to put down.
Robert Fate
Sandra Ruttan's Suspicious Circumstances soars. It is complex, exciting, and elegant. In musical terms, it's listening to Bach. I'm in love with Lara Kelly, the smart, strong, vulnerable protagonist. Her detective lover better move fast or I'm in there. A gripping adventure, a large cast of marvelous characters, and twists that follow turns. Read it. You'll love it too.

over 800 pages and worth every word. The story starts off strong and stays that way to the end. I enjoyed the writing and all the plots. The last pages there are still things to learn about this adventure mystery....Definitely worth reading

Corrupt police, true blue reporter, and murder. A good combination for a fast paced murder mystery.

Sandra Ruttan breaks out onto the crime fiction scene with this machine gun rhythmed novel that pulls you through every unexpected twist and turn in her complex and richly drawn debut. Crisp, taut, and unrelenting, with engaging characters and a great plot, this is a novel you won't be able to put down.

Poorly written, boring story that jumps around and continually adds new, uninteresting characters.

Very interesting characters and plot. I was disappointed at the ending, but perhaps there will be a sequel that will start off where this one ended.

Reporter Lara Kelly is suspicious when a man comes to her with a video tape showing a woman falling from a cliff. Especially when he says he first went to the police, and they weren¿t interested. She begins to investigate, but proceeds cautiously. Soon she has a story compiled that the woman committed suicide. Detective Tymen Farraday is new on the local force. The force has been plagued with scandal and rumors. He is assigned to investigate this story and discredit Lara if he has to. After Lara is attacked and some evidence stolen, Tymen finds himself protecting Lara and having to put aside his feelings about and grudge against reporters. Just when they think they have everything figured out, more murders happen that make them rethink everything. I really enjoyed this book. The characters are fun and the story pace kept my interest. The plot is well-written and there are plenty of twists and turns to keep you guessing. I highly recommend this book.
