Overview

Pride Donovan returns to her old home in the small Texas Gulf Coast town of Anahuac when her father dies, and somehow she is not surprised when her former lover, Flynn Sutherland, does not recognize her little boy as her child and his, even after spending an afternoon on his sailboat with the child.

When Flynn tries to rekindle her feelings for him, she knows he is about to get the shock of his life, because Flynn firmly believes he is sterile. Instead, Pride finds herself in shock when Flynn accepts his son and researches her own “Single Mommy” newspaper column for hints on how to coax her into marrying him.

Pride thinks she has many good reasons why she shouldn’t marry Flynn, including a childhood spent with a father who claimed she was not his child. She isn’t about to allow such a thing to happen to her son, no matter how strongly Flynn declares he believes her.

Can Pride overcome her hurt and learn to trust Flynn again?

Kathryn Brocato¿s Sutherland¿s Pride is a perfect book to read w

Kathryn Brocato’s Sutherland’s Pride is a perfect book to read while under an umbrella at the beach or wrapped beneath a blanket in front of a warm fire. Ms. Brocato did a wonderful job building her heroine, Pride Donovan. I could almost taste the pain and betrayal this young single mother felt when she came face to face with her baby’s father, Flynn Sutherland.
Some may think she is too hard on Flynn, but not this reader. He held his own son in his arms and still believed that Pride cheating on him. I loved Flynn’s character, but I wanted to reach into the book and give him a good “Gibbs slap’’ a time or two. Talk about not seeing beyond the end of his nose.
But Flynn grew on me. He believed the worst of Pride, even though he loved her, because her own father did the same. When he finally realized what a terrible mistake he made, he won me over completely by standing up and taking responsibility. He faced Pride, told her he was sorry, and asked her to forgive him. How can you not love a guy like that?
Ms. Brocato was brilliant not end the story there. The ball was now in Pride’s hands. She had a made a few mistakes as well. She didn’t just have to forgive Flynn, but open her heart to possible hurt again. She watched her parents live years in a terrible marriage because they couldn’t forgive and forget. But Pride realized that her life didn’t have to be like her parents. She could create a loving family for her son with the man she never stopped loving. She just had to forgive herself along with Flynn.
Sutherland’s Pride is a delightful romantic contemporary about rekindled love and second chances. Find a quiet place, and disappear into this fast reading romance that is guaranteed to pull on a few of your heart stings before you reach an adorable happy-ever-after.

SUTHERLAND’S PRIDE, by author Kathryn Brocato, is a sweet, poignant contemporary romance about second chances and the healing power of forgiveness. The heroine is smart, tough and resolute in her desire to provide her young son with the love and care she herself never experienced in her childhood. The hero is dealing with his own issues and seems blind to the secret hidden right before his eyes. When the truth is revealed, both are forced to acknowledge the mistakes of the past and must choose to work toward a future filled with the happiness they crave. If you’re looking for a fun, fast read filled with equal helpings of joy and hope, SUTHERLAND’S PRIDE is the book for you!

Sometimes when you want a second chance, you get that second chance. Both Pride Donovan and Flynn Sutherland are thrust back together after Pride's father passes away. What Flynn doesn't realize is Pride is bringing along a surprise. A hands-on little boy who wiggles his way into Flynn's heart. Both Pride and Flynn have a lot to overcome to reach their final happily ever after, if they can just set aside their stubborn natures for a few minutes.

    A wonderful romantic contemporary read.

The author provided me with an ARC in exchange for a fair review.
