SERIES DESCRIPTION:
In Long Island's abandoned wasteland is a virtual reality arcade where the rich play a high-stakes game, and zombies are their avatars. It's horrifyingly addictive entertainment. For the poor, the only way in is to become an Undead Player.

On a whim, six hackers sneak onto the island for a glimpse of the victims of the decade-old outbreak. But if they find breaking in to be easy, they'll soon learn that getting back out is a killer. Because when you play, you either win or you become part of The Game.

EPISODE 1: Deep Into the Game
Zpocalypto gamer Jessica Daniels and her gang of code jackers break onto Long Island hoping for a glimpse of the Infected Undead. A last minute addition to their fold raises tensions within the group. After an accident during prep nearly takes the life of one of their members, emotions run dangerously high. Finding the abandoned wasteland unlike anything they ever expected, their excitement turns to dread as the dangers become all too apparent.

EPISODE 2: Failsafe
Jessie and Kelly clash after one of their group gets stranded among the Infected Undead, forcing Kelly to make a rash decision which will ultimately deliver them into the hands of those who would turn them all into mindless players in The Game.

EPISODE 3: Deadman's Switch
Unable to escape the island, the group digs in. Jessie is anointed as their leader despite claims that she is unfit. A final desperate attempt is made to leave, setting into motion a sequence of events which will result in one of them dead, another infected, and all of them running for their lives.

EPISODE 4: Sunder the Hollow Ones
A mutiny splits the group, leaving Jessie exiled. As she struggles to fulfill her promise to bring everyone safely home, a chance encounter with one of Gameland's residents dredges up deeply buried memories, leaving her haunted and doubtful of her survival.

EPISODE 5: Prometheus Wept
After another member of their group is infected, Jessie decides to hand over another to a mysterious group of Undead sympathizers in exchange for a promised antidote. But will she be able to collect the medicine and return in time? Will the medicine even work? And will she be able to get them all back home again?

EPISODE 6: Kingdom of Players
Armed with a potential antiserum to the reanimation virus, Jessica races back to Gameland to save her infected friend. Waylaid along the way, she must fight for her life to save another. Will she make it back in time? Or will her friend die and return as one of the Undead?

EPISODE 7: Tag, You're Dead
Torn between rescuing her best friend from a homicidal maniac and tending an infected friend, Jessie, Kelly and Reggie fight over what to do. But Reggie falls ill and the Undead break into their stronghold. Soon they're battling for their own lives in a battle which will take them to their darkest hour.

EPISODE 8: Jacker's Code
The shocking conclusion to the high-tech horror thriller, GAMELAND: Determined to do whatever is necessary to get home, the survivors face some of the most difficult challenges of their lives. Who will make it back alive? And who will remain behind as one of the Undead Players?

Editorial Reviews

Amazon - Lori Parker
(from full series): This book is played out like a tv show. Each episodes ends on a cliff hanger much like the tv show the Walking Dead or Lost. The next episode has a little backstory of the previous one and then picks up where the story arc left off. It makes for a fast paced, interesting read. Without annoying commericials to boot. I'll take it!
The Kindle Book Review - Anita KBR
(from episode 1): If you have a fascination for all things zombie, if you loved the movie "Zombieland" or the TV series "The Walking Dead" than you will become a devoted fan to Saul Tanpepper's GameLand Series. The first book is "Deep Into The Game" and once you read this book you will definitely wants all 8 in the series.

Meet the Author

Saul spent his formative years in a leaky century-old house overlooking the Erie Canal in Upstate New York. His bedroom was a refurbished attic, which he shared with all manner of creatures, not all, he is convinced, flesh and blood.

After bouncing around the US and Europe for several years, he settled down to pursue a career in the sciences, opting to study the mysteries of human molecular genetics. But even positions as an experimental biologist, teacher, manager and biotech entrepreneur couldn't keep him from his true passion as a storyteller.

He now writes speculative fiction full time from his home in the San Francisco Bay Area. Although his house is now attic-less and waterproof, he continues to be haunted by a variety of creatures, including a wife, kids, four dogs, three cats, six chickens, a wayward rooster, and one very grumpy possum. They are all flesh and blood.

Except, maybe, for the possum, which he's convinced is the reincarnated spirit of Jack Torrance.

    Just Wow!

I can barely think of a way to describe how incredible this book is. I ploughed through its 4000+ pages, never losing interest, always on the edge of my seat and eager (or afraid) to learn what was going to happen next, resenting having to stop reading to do silly things like work or sleep, and would have gladly read another 4000 after that! Nonstop action, believable characters, suspense, and zombies. If this book was more widely known, it would be a bestseller for sure.

Started reading this set of books and could not stop. Unfortunately I had to read it on my pc as my Nook could not seem to handle the size of the omnibus.
Great characters, with plenty of meat on the bone (sorry) for subsequent series. I agree with a previous reviewer that, were this set of books better know, I have no doubt that it would be a huge seller. Keep up the good work Saul and I wish you continued success!

I needed a good book while recovering from a recent surgery, and this was a great choice! Couldn't put it down, and read all eight episodes until I nearly went cross eyed. Kept hoping these kids would get a break, a nice bath, a good night's sleep, a hot meal, but it just wasn't happening, not with remote controlled zombies around. What a great idea! Thanks for a great book, Saul!
