All Music Guide - Mike DaRonco
Nothing like a traditional Irish band from California. All cynicism aside, Flogging Molly's hybrid of street punk and pub-rock is a ruckus of punch-drunk energy. Combining the folk of the Pogues with an Oi! blast by way of the Dropkick Murphys, their debut full-length Swagger provides a brew of rowdy party music that's perfect for any barroom brawl.

    I Also Recommend:

    Album definitely has "Swagger!"

Flogging Molly are innovators in the music world, combining multiple genres all at once. Any of their cd's would be a wise purchase by anyone who truly loves music. Dave King's lyrics and composition are wonders to behold, as well as the band's overall enthusiasm and immense talent. Bridget also is absolutely exquisite with a fiddle, something you don't hear too often anymore. The combination of guitars, both electric and acoustic, tin whistles, a fiddle, a mandolin, drums, and the accordian (not to mention anything else they might throw in) all combine to make something truly unique. A real treat to the ears!

    AWESOME!!!!!

Having Flogging Molly's "Drunken Lullabies" CD and loving to so-so-so much, I decided to get another one of their CDs. I bought me "Swagger" and enjoy it is as much as the other CD of theirs that I have. The music is still energetic, still upbeat, still just fun to rock out to and listen to and dance to at the same time! If you already like Flogging Molly, like celtic music, or have an open-mind to music, then check out the samples and if you like what you hear I recommend YOU BUY THE CD: YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!!!! (I sure wasn't.)

Here's One To Drink a Pint To

Flogging Molly is one of the most original bands I have ever heard. Not only is their music a perfect blend of Irish Pub Songs and Punk Rock, they are also very excellent in concert. I highly recommend this album to everybody. I also recommend seeing them live as well.

Flogging Molly: Let's all take a listen

With their irish folk/punk music flogging molly is one of the best bands out there. I first heard them when my friend was over. We were sitting in my room and he popped the tape in. From then on i knew that they were my favorite band. I really wish that they would put another record out. with their style you can never get bored. I love irish folk music and i am a really big fan of punk rock. so pick up their record at your local record store or download them on napster.

Flogging Molly's new CD is a heavy dose of adrenaline and originality

This is really a great album by a great band with a great new sound. We've been playing this for about a month at my college radio station, and virtually our entire on-air staff loves it. Flogging Molly combines traditional Irish drinking/jig music with punk, and it turns out to be a really good hybrid. 'Salty Dog' is one of the best tracks. Incidentally, the review by Mike DaRonco says that the lead singer's Irish accent is faked, but the lead singer is a full-blooded Irishman (from what I've read, anyway)! Anyway, you owe it to yourself to check this album out because you won't be able to find this sound anywhere else.
