In 1893, Scottish Baron James Blackwood is a lover of renown, but takes his day job seriously as a guard protecting the Duchy of Dalmia Prince Ernst. When someone assassinates the heir to Dalmia, Prince Rupert, James swears he will find the traitor who killed his friend. Instead Ernst asks him to keep safe his other offspring, Sofia Eastleigh. James recently met Sofia during one of his trysts, but resisted the temptation of seducing her; which now that he knows who she is he is grateful for his self control. However, Sofia and James are shocked by their desire for one another as both have always controlled their passions. As they fall in love during several gender skirmishes, a predator stalks Ernst's offspring. The latest "as" heated Victorian romance (see Gorgeous as Sin and Sexy as Hell) is a fun erotic thriller. The boudoir scenes are scintillating; slow and steamy while overwhelming the prime plot of exposing the killer. Still fans of Susan Johnson will appreciate the escapades of the devil and the daughter especially in the bedroom (and a few other places). Harriet Klausner

I just put down this book yesterday. The book doesn't pick up speed until the 6th chapter. The first chapters were, I found, boring but necessary if your going to write a book. The story was good all together. You must be a fan of this author to truely stick it out to get past the boring part of this book, which I am, because I know how this author writes. I have alot of her books and have read a good bit of them. This book and Taboo are not my favorites but a good read all together. I think her other two books in this series were alot better read then this one thou. I do enjoy her books very much but enjoy some more than other :)...Good Job altogether:)

SWEET AS THE DEVIL by Susan Johnson is an exciting historical romance set in 1893 London. This is the third in this sexy historical romance series.(See Gorgeous As Sin and Sexy As Hell). This one can be read as a stand alone. When James a Scottish guard for the Duchy of Dalmia Prince Ernst is sent to protect Prince Ernst's daughter, and the true heir of Dalmia,James finds it hard to kept his passion in check. Sophia, the daughter of Prince Ernst, who did not know he existed,is not easy to ignore. She is beautiful, but rather plain, head strong, determined, has no problems with a sexual tryst,a sexually liberated artist, and wants a sexual tryst with James.James, is torn between his duty and his desire. The streamy sex scenes between the two are awesome.Their passion and lust for each other is fierce,at some points controlling, and could be dangerous for James. While they are truly falling in love,Sophia is being stalked by a killer, who has already killed her younger brother and friend of James. This is a lusty tale of suspense, love, romance, danger and a Devil meets a Princess with lots of passion and lust.A Must read for all historical romance readers who enjoy passion and suspense. It is a fast paced story that will keep you reading well into the night. This book was received for the purpose of review from the publisher and details can be found at The Berkley Sensation Publishing Group, published by Penguin Group and My Book Addiction and More.

I give it 2 stars because of Susan's skill of history and leading me, but this was horrible. Hated the heroine and I call her that loosely...what a promiscuous, selfish, petulant female. Yuck. Skipped over a lot of this book in sheer distaste; just did not like.
