Overview

The second time around is even sweeter . . . with cherries on top.

Blue Jeans and Hard Hats, Book 1

Buck doesn't do personal projects. Until he runs into a woman wandering the aisles of the local home-improvement store, looking lost and confused. Just the way this fantasy looks at him nearly buckles his knees. In a hot second, the successful owner of a contracting company becomes a simple handyman, ready and willing to get as personal as the lady will allow.

Since her less-than-golden marriage to the local golden boy ended, Caroline's declaration of independence includes her own business, road trips . . . and nipple piercings. Now it's time to cut the last tie to her old life, but the house needs some work before she can unload it and move to her dream cabin in the mountains. Hard as it is to admit, she needs a little help.

Over the next few months, he shows her his toys, like hammers and drills, and she shows him hers-like floggers and paddles. And their attraction is the tinder that could send Caroline's plans for an independent life up in flames . . .

Warning: In this book, there are sightings of glass dildos, leather belt bindings, nipple rings, wicked clamps, cherry cheesecake and a hot, yummy handyman-type guy who's really good with his hands . . .

I never really felt connected to these characters. If you are not big on S & M books I wouldn't bother reading it. I can take it or leave it but nothing in the book really reached out to me. I just kept wondering when it was going to get better. It never did.

This was a really hot book. Hell, it opens up in an adult toy store! There was only one time that I had trouble other than a few editing issues, and that was picturing a particular sex scene. Beyond that, I loved this story, mostly because it felt so authentic and Lissa Matthews paints such a vivid picture that you feel like you could put yourself in the characters’ shoes. I really enjoyed the playful exploration they endeavor and the way they discover more and more about each other in all aspects of their lives as they push to let the attraction and new respect and just everything blossom. I really felt so much for both characters. I hurt with Caroline, I blushed with, and as for Buck…he’s so caring and compassionate that it’s hard not to fall for him (not that you’d want to fight it anyway). Another thing I appreciated was the demonstration of the age difference. I’m one of those that doesn’t care about age, and often in stories, even if there is an age difference, it’s not addressed much. Lissa doesn’t shy away from it, but shows you how the characters think of it and why it does or doesn’t matter to them. She also shows that you don’t have to be a perfect size 8 to be sexy, beautiful, and loved. Ultimately, just a really well written and great sexy story! If you’re looking for some kink with your romance, look no further. Sweet Caroline is riveting from beginning to end you will be so engrossed that you won’t be able to put it down! Excellent novella!

This has a lot of character inner turmoil. I get really bored with reading about characters that think to much. This book was around 86 pages and I skimmed most of it. It was mostly the charactes thinking about missing each other and not being sad and enjoying the time they had left. While some of that is okay I don't think it's necessary to go on and on and on about it. I also don't need a list of ingredients for cheese cake. I was just looking for a short sexy read. This one was just a disappointment.
