Discover why readers and critics have called the Coulter family novels “romantic through and through” (Publishers Weekly) with this poignant contemporary romance from New York Times bestselling author Catherine Anderson.

Molly Wells is keeping a lot of secrets. Such as why she’s stolen her ex-husband’s expensive stallion and driven him hundreds of miles to the ranch of horse whisperer Jake Coulter. And why she’s arrived with no job, no money, and an all-consuming fear. Molly may be willing to risk everything to save the stallion, but it’s herself she really needs to save…

By making a place for Molly on his ranch, Jake suspects that he may be harboring a thief. But there’s something about this courageous yet vulnerable woman that tugs on his heartstrings. He yearns to shower her with the greatest gifts he has to give—his home, his heart, and his life to share. But until she’s strong enough to accept them, all he can offer is the patience to win her slowly, the strength to fight her enemies, and the promise to love her forever…

Molly Wells is out of work, on the run, and almost broke -- but that won't stop her from doing what's right, even when that means stealing Sonora Sunset, the valuable racehorse her ex-husband is about to destroy. Fortunately, Jake Coulter, the horse whisperer Molly brought Sunset to after brutal beatings made him wild and dangerous, also believes that right and wrong are more important than the bottom line -- or the letter of the law. He knows Molly isn't telling him everything, but there's no way he'll return a terrified horse to the man who brutalized it. He even offers desperate Molly a job to cover expenses for the stallion and herself. He figures that any woman who was once married to the monster who hurt Sunset has every right to be wary around men. But, as the unexpected passion between Molly and Jake escalates, so does the risk to them both -- and to everything they treasure. Catherine Anderson has delivered another powerfully romantic, emotionally compelling contemporary love story.

Pick a romance cliche and you're sure to find it in this lengthy, formulaic offering from one of the genre's veteran writers. After Molly Wells steals a badly abused race horse from her nasty ex-husband Rodney, she takes the animal to Jake Coulter's Oregon ranch. Molly had hoped Jake, a horse whisperer, would be a man like Robert Redford, and she isn't disappointed; he's handsome, gentle and caring, and he has a way with horses. Since Molly is homeless and on the lam from Rodney, who had her committed for mental instability so he could gain control of her estate, she accepts Jake's offer to work as cook and housekeeper at the ranch. Molly's lack of domestic skills isn't lost on Jake, but he's willing to put up with stir fry dishes and disgruntled ranch hands just to keep her close. The situation takes a personal turn when Rodney shows up to drag Molly back to the institution. The only way to stop him, and a court order, is for Jake to marry Molly. But for Molly, marriage means letting a man take control of her life again, and she wants nothing to do with it. Fans who enjoy double-sized category romances will devour Anderson's latest offering (after Phantom Waltz), but others might find themselves yawning through the 400-plus pages of over-used phrases and predictable plot turns. There might be an appealing contemporary romance in here. I'll never know--because I couldn't take the romance-novel stylings. Not even five pages in the rancher hero's eyes were described as both "blue and searing as laser beams" and a "blaze of azure" and that was only the bare beginning of the detailed description of male pulchritude ("sable hair" and skin like "melted caramel" among other things in the very first pages). The heroine is described by the hero as "pleasantly plump," and she feels she needs to lose 30 pounds--that was a bit different and refreshing. Both seemed likable characters, and there were hints of a real dilemma and plot there--but I knew if I read one more page, I'd hurl. Stopped at page 40.

I love Catherine Anderson's books and this series is one of my favorites. Molly shows up at Jake's ranch, running from an abusive husband. She and a beautiful horse she has with her have both been terribly abused by her ex. The love that grows between Jake and Molly is heartwarming, funny, pougnant and at times steamy as Molly learns to trust a wonderful man (Jake) and they work at healing this horse. Things happen along the way as they are somewhat stalked by her ex but Jake is the ultimate protector and there is excitement and satisfaction as the book evolves. I didn't want the book to end, the characters are so compelling. Catherine Anderson is a wonderful writer.

I liked this book because it touched on self esteem and how dominate people can destroy a sensitive persons esteem. How they can brow beat them to think they are not viable, and it takes years and alot of care and love to get this person back to normal. The horse was hurt as well and I know that animal abuse is a rising thing in our society today. It touches on alot of things we should think about in our lives. Catherine has always not be afraid of touching subjects like this. I pray she continues to write about these along with the good story base and romance.

I've been a fan of Cathernine's for a year and I am anticipating her next novel due out in August more than any other book I've ever wanted. Until I read Ms. Anderson, heros and heroines had been perfect. Physically, mentally, and in every other way possible. I appreciated Catherine's efforts to introduce some reality into her books. Real love overcomes obstacles, big and small. I am happy to report that Ms. Anderson was smart enough to learn that bit of information and incorporate it into her books. Jake and Molly's story exceed my expectations of Ms. Anderson and has definitely left me panting for more.

The lashing her abusive former husband Rodney gave to Sonora Sunset sent Molly Wells over the edge. Unable to sit idly by while he badly hurt the helpless steed, Molly steals the horse. She travels across Oregon to Jake Coulter¿s Lazy J Ranch due to his reputation as far away as the Portland area as a horse whisperer.

Jake has doubts that she owns Sonora Sunset, but cannot ignore the steed's injuries. He also notices how Molly deeply cares about the horse. As Jake provides kindness and nurturing to Sonora Sunset he begins to fall in love with Molly. She reciprocates, but fears a relationship after the hell that Rodney put her through. She also is afraid that if Rodney catches up to her, he will go after Jake too.

SWEET NOTHINGS is an engaging romance that focuses on mental and physical healing of humans and horses through tenderness and affection. The story line is fast-paced as love blossoms between the lead characters and a matchmaking horse. Though the obviously brilliant Rodney going after Molly and Sonora Sunset adds suspense, the subplot seems unnecessary since this worm¿s devious plans were coming together and included a perfect escape if needed. Still the charming key couple and a warm support cast make Catherine Anderson¿s rendition of A Whisperer¿s Tale something worth shouting about by relationship drama fans.

Another great book in the Kendrick Coulter series. You don't want it to end and can't wait to pick up the next one. She is a talented writer and I enjoy her characters. She describes them so well but your imagination takes them a step further and makes them who they truly are. As always, happy endings work for me. She is fabulous.

Usually love Catherine Anderson novels, but this one was a bit too over the top. The hero was over the top perfect and Molly's story required just a little too much suspension of disbelief. I got through it, but only bc of loyalty to her other novels.

This novel was excellent. Jake Coulter, who is known as a horse whisperer takes in Molly Wells and her ex-husband's abused horse on his ranch. Molly takes a great chance by even taking (stealing, actually) the horse to Jake, but she is so heartbroken seeing the poor creature hurt that she throws caution to the wind. After a 10-year marriage to a horrible, abusive and deceitful man, Molly is but a shell of her former self. What Jake can do for the horse is nothing short of a miracle, but you'll have to read the book to see what he does for Molly! Every woman dreams of such a hero in her life, and Jake comes through! This book is definitely a keeper for me.
