Overview

"I'm going to give you memories to last a lifetime, Genevieve Cain. I promise you that."

With a loser ex-boyfriend threatening her dream business, Sweet Seduction, Genevieve Cain is forced to go to a lawyer to finalise things once and for all. Gen knows she's only good for one dream in her lifetime, so when she meets senior partner, Dominic Anscombe, in the foyer of the law firm's building, she dismisses any delusional ideas her mind creates involving his very fine body. But Dominic is intrigued by Gen's run-away mouth and if there's one thing to say about Dominic Anscombe, he knows what he wants and when he finds it, he sets out to take it, claim it and possess it - completely.

Kidnappings, shootings, dream-shattering moments, hot investigators and just as hot lawyers, everything comes to a head when Genevieve sacrifices something so precious for something even more so. And it wasn't the sacrifice she thought she'd make. The sweetest of sacrifices, the most worthy offering. But can she believe Dominic has fallen as hard for her as she has for him in such a short time? And can she allow herself a second dream in her life, by letting him in?

Love at first sight has never been so dangerous and so very delicious at the same time.

Meet the Author

Nicola Claire lives in beautiful Taupo, New Zealand with her husband and two young boys.

She's tried her hand at being a paramedic, bank teller and medical sales representative, (not all necessarily in that order), but her love of writing keeps calling her back.

She has a passion for all things supernatural, spiced up with a good dollop of romance - as long as they include strong characters, alpha males and capable females, and worlds which although make-believe are really quite believable in the end.

There's nothing better than getting caught up in a compelling, intriguing and romantic book.

When she's not writing or reading, she's out on her family boat at Lake Taupo, teaching her young boys to fish, showing them the beauty that surrounds them in nature and catching some delicious trout for dinner.

Kindred has been a joy to write, creating a rich world with dynamic characters and paranormal twists that shock and awe has been pure bliss for this author. And just as well, because there's a lot more story yet to tell...

    New Zealand romantic adventure

From the tongue in cheek chapter headings to the over the top plot development, this is a fun take on the modern romance. Genevieve is coming out of a bad relationship, willing to do anything to protect her beloved Sweet Seductions coffee-chocolate-music store, and not quite ready to acknowledge the devotion of the love at first sight lawyer who falls for her but may be way out of her league. This story is filled with cliches and characters who somehow still entertain - the best friend girlfriend who speaks bluntly, protective special forces older brother, loving but occassionally interfering parents, co-workers, the awful ex who obsesses and escalates the action, crimelords, kidnappings, bodyguards, good-looking wealthy lawyers, gay apartment neighbors, misunderstandings that impede acceptance, crazy exes, and more. The stream of consciousness character who says what's on her mind grabs you and draws you into her off-kilter world. Overlook the sometimes repetitious descriptives, including how sexy her love is, and just enjoy a fun New Zealand twist on the modern formula romance.

    Good

The only reason I'll invest in reading the rest of this series because I think the author had a great idea for the plot of this book and because I enjoyed reading about all if the OTHER secondary characters. I'm sorry but Gen's character was annoying as hell. All she did throughout the entire book was cry, whine, run her mouth off while not making any sense (verbal diarrhea anyone), and trying her damndest to believe in an ex who is not only a loser but a criminal to boot. How fu*king stupid could she be? She spends so much time whining and doubting the wrong people that when she tries to be the tough, courageous heroine the book needs, she just comes off looking foolish and ignorant. Why two guys spend the entire book obsessed with her is beyond me, but I'm chalking it up to her being so easy to control.

All of the other characters, including super, mega Alpha Dominic, were greatly written. Very descriptive. Arrogant men will be arrogant men when it comes to defending women, doesn't really matter what type of book it is. Which is why Dom's character, while extremely alpha, is also extremely hot. I think if Gen had a backbone instead of being so gutless, they would have made a better match, because he quite frankly walks all over her. He's hot and all but to have someone control your entire life...that's unacceptable.

What bumped this rating from a three to a four was all of the amazing sexual tension which this book has in spades. There are sexual scenes and language in this book, so if you are not comfortable reading that type of material, then this book is NOT for you! There was minimal action, but for a free book it was pretty good.

Heroine too cliche and ditzy to be likable

Loved the New Zealand backdrop. Had some good elements. However, the main character was too silly to become invested in her safety and well being. Too frustrating to finish!

I really enjoyed this book, and appreciated the friendship Gen and Kellie had with each other. And also reading the love at first sight that
took playboy Domenic down. Nicola Claire also wrapped in the value of friends that become as close if not closer than family, which I
believe is the reason for friends.
