Overview

"Don't for a minute believe I want you any other way, Jason Cain. The second you stop being you, is the moment you should fear most."

For several months now Katie Anscombe has tried to hide her attraction to Jason Cain. That's what everyone expects of Katie. And of course, it helps that he basically ignores her too. But something about the ex-special forces soldier has caught her attention. And dreams are free, aren't they?

Forced into a lock-down for forty-eight hours, with no one to come between them and stop the tension from exploding inside her small house, things become volatile. And a volatile Jason Cain is really something to witness. But the closer she gets to Jason, the more it becomes apparent that he's unlike any other man she has ever met.

A sexy, dominant, but slightly broken soldier. A Pandora's Box of desire and fervent need opened. Katie and Jason must face up to their fears, in order to embrace what feels right. But with overprotective brothers and an eccentric millionaire art dealer throwing spanners in the works, surrendering to each other isn't as easy as it sounds. Fighting their attraction has been second nature for too long, so when they finally give in to their base desires, will it be everything Katie dreamed about? And will it last?

Love at first sight has never been so dangerous and so very delicious at the same time.

Meet the Author

Nicola Claire lives in beautiful Taupo, New Zealand with her husband and two young boys. She's tried her hand at being a paramedic, bank teller and medical sales representative, (not all necessarily in that order), but her love of writing keeps calling her back. She has a passion for all things supernatural, spiced up with a good dollop of romance - as long as they include strong characters, alpha males and capable females, and worlds which although make-believe are really quite believable in the end. There's nothing better than getting caught up in a compelling, intriguing and romantic book. When she's not writing or reading, she's out on her family boat at Lake Taupo, teaching her young boys to fish, showing them the beauty that surrounds them in nature and catching some delicious trout for dinner. Kindred has been a joy to write, creating a rich world with dynamic characters and paranormal twists that shock and awe has been pure bliss for this author. And just as well, because there's a lot more story yet to tell...

    Katie and Jason's interlude

Another in Nicola Claire's Sweet Seduction series, this one overlaps Abi and Ben's story, references Gen and Dominic, ASI, and the Anscombe family, but focuses on development of Jason and Katie's relationship. There is a sweet seductive tone to the whole series, delving into instant attractions, love-hate relationships, hot sex, good friends, supportive family, smoking bodyguards, humor and action-romance in a modern New Zealand setting, but this story is slower paced, gradually building to a climax and epilogue, while still entertaining. The story starts as Jason is sent by ASI to watch over Katie during an ASI lockdown. Jason's " dominant" sexual tendencies don't quite hold the mark to other BDSM genre available, and the underlying cliche plot about protecting the beautiful girl from gangsters and the romantic hero's own flaws could be better developed. More detailed character backstory (explaining why Jason is as he is, or Katie's dynamics given her own family history), would have enhanced the ability to understand and relate to these characters. Katie's dual personas are explained more in the first book in this series than here. Touching on serious issues, like post-traumatic stress disorder, especially for special forces combat soldiers, but also the heroine, this still makes for an interesting read, but other stories in the series will grab you more.

    Good but

This was a little slow and the story dragged on too much. Once it got to the showdown it was over in 2-3 pages. I will finish this series since I've really enjoyed books 1-3.
