Overview

She's his boss. He doesn't care. This office isn't big enough for the two of them...

When Rory Clarke ends up hiring the guy she spent one steamy night with to be her administrative assistant, she's determined to keep things professional.
Lucas Blaine has other plans for her. He wants Rory, and it's hard to resist his stunning blue eyes, chin dimple and the way he fills out a suit. Everywhere she looks, there he is, giving her a panty-melting smile and pulling her away for the most amazing (and satisfying) sex she's ever had in her life.
What starts off as one sexual encounter turns into multiple trysts in and out of the office and the lines she'd tried to draw so carefully are blurring. But the closer they get, the more Rory realizes that there are things about Lucas she doesn't know, things he's hiding from her. She'll have to decide if she can surrender to her feelings or get out while she still can.

I thought Sweet Surrendering was boring, and I thought the characters were immature and only a few of them actually had personalities. Sloane was the only character I loved, and I expected more out of the two main characters' relationship.  Firstly, I couldn't connect with Rory. On some level, she just annoyed me. I didn't think she had much of a personality. She's a workaholic who's had one serious boyfriend that cheated on her, and she spends her days drinking, hanging out with her girlfriends, and working. She's an only child, and she has a great relationship with her parents (except you don't see much of them). I also thought she acted like she was still in high school when it came to Lucas. Or, excuse me, Lucah. And honestly, their relationship was lacking realness and an emotional quality I've come to expect in book couples. It's really all about the sex, and even the sex scenes were generic and mundane. Sometimes it was steamy, and other times I just wanted to skim the scenes. And their relationship was all sunshine and rainbows, even though they shouldn't be in a relationship and Lucah has secrets. It just didn't seem real to me. Secondly, the secret that Lucah was hiding didn't really fit with the story-line. Or, at least, I didn't like it because it was the reason that made it easy for them to get away with the forbidden office romance. Finding out about it when the story was almost over didn't help in the least. There wasn't much build-up about it, and I thought for sure it would create some tension between the two. But other than being less than a day apart because Rory had to think about everything, it was smoothed over. Thirdly, the plot was really boring. Forbidden romances are one of my favorite story-lines; however, this didn't seem like it. Their office romance wasn't smothered in tension, and I'm sure most of the other employees figured it out early on (even her father had!). There weren't any obstacles for them to jump through, and his "big secret" made everything end too perfectly. It was like a neat little bow on a present, all tidy and pretty. Forbidden romances shouldn't be that tidy or perfect. I was waiting for them to be found out, to have to jump through some obstacles at work and with the other employees, but it never happened. All in all, I thought the story was okay. It just didn't work for me.

***I was given a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review for Nerd Alert Book Love blog*** Aurora "Rory" Clarke is classy, sassy, beautiful,  hardworking,  and very goal oriented.  Being Vice President at her father's company is something she has worked very hard to earn and not because she is "Daddy's Girl". She also works hard to prove herself as one of the few females that works for Clarke Enterprise.   "...Are you Aurora Clarke? I'm Lucas Blaine and I'm here to apply for the administrative position..."  Lucah "Lucas" Blaine is very sexy, very alpha, very demanding,  and he's not afraid to go after what he wants. And not only does he want to work for Rory, but he also wants Rory as well.  "...Okay, Lucas Blaine, I'll show you a good kiss..." Rory gives into Lucas and gives him one night together to get it out of their system.  And after one incredible night, Rory was not prepared for things to get turned upside down when it was pushed on her to hire Lucas for the position at work.  "...but I know you and I know you take your job seriously and you won't let anything get in the way of it. So I know that you're going to put on your big girl panties and go back to work and be a goddamn professional..."  After another romp or so with the sexy Lucas, Rory decides enough is enough and needs to put an end to it. She even goes and writes up and makes Lucas sign a Code of Conduct contract. But with looking at his sexy face and dealing with his flirty banter, can Rory continue to hold her ground?   "...Well, if saying no I'd that hard, then maybe you should say yes..."  Rory finally gives in, for who can really resist Lucas, and agrees to give him nights. Business hours their relationship is professional,  well flirty professional.  But their nights are very hot and steamy. After a few weeks of sharing just about every single night together,  Lucas decides he wants more. He wants days too. Can Rory take that chance and risk how hard she's has worked at her job? What will happen when things in Lucas' past start popping up and just make Rory question what is the truth? And through it all, can Rory and her father discover who is cooking the books at the office and possibly embezzling money?  "...I looked into eyes that were staring at me as if I was the sexiest, most beautiful thing he'd ever seen..."  "...You are a remarkable woman, Aurora Clarke.  I don't know why you came into my life, but I'm damn glad that you did..."  Chelsea M. Cameron is one of my favorite authors.  I absolutely love her books. They are sexy and sweet, compelling,  and make me laugh out loud.  Her characters are all so strong and interesting. Even though Sweet Surrendering is Rory and Lucas' story, you become quite interested in Sloane, Chloe, Marisol, Fin, and Ryder. Follow the Surrendering Saga to learn more about each character.  And don't forget to read The Deep Surrendering episodes to read about Fin and Marisol! They are all such incredible reads! And I am happy to give Sweet Surrendering a Nerd Alert A or 5 stars! You will never look at post it notes the same! ;)

Surrendering to Us by Chelsea M. Cameron is the second book in her Surrender Saga. A novel full of hot and steamy, corporate intrigue, mystery and drama. Continuing the story of Rory and Lucah, we pick up where we left them. Lucah now works for a different department so Rory is no longer his boss, but they're still keeping their relationship quiet as they still work at the same corporation. Rory and lucah now have to test their relationship on the trials of the outside world. Lucah's younger brother needs his help and a blast from his past shows up at work. Let's sit back and see how they handle the obstacles life throws at them. Filled with humor and angst, oh and did I mention some steamy times? Any fan of contemporary romance should definitely give this author and series a go.

That is what it was. This was a very sweet love story, with a lot of passion. It was a little slow in the beginning, but got to the point where I just wanted to keep reading, even when a long awaited 3rd book of a trilogy was release, I couldn’t put it aside to read it. There were some surprises that I would never guess. I truly enjoyed this book and would recommend it.

Such a sweet, funny, and extremely sexy read! I'm already a fan of Ms. Cameron's writing, so I knew going into Sweet Surrendering that I would like it—and I did. Very much. Best $0.99 I have spent in a long time! Cameron has proved she can write both sexy NA and now very sexy adult contemporaries, too. I laughed, I snorted, I sighed...Oh, yes, reading this book made me very happy. I loved the banter and tension between Rory and Lucas. There are sooo many great quotes that I highlighted Mmmm... a sexy ginger hero with a mysterious past, a heroine who knows what she wants, and a scene with dirty post-it notes...seriously, just go buy this book! Oh, and her previous novels, too; just trust me on this. I'll admit, there were a few spots in the story that were slow, but over all I was pleased with this novel. I do wish that there had been more development around Lucas' “secret”. But despite these small flaws, I still very much enjoyed Sweet Surrendering. It goes without saying that I will be looking forward to the next book in this series—and by this author in general. 4 STARS! ~ * ~ * ~ For my full review, including favorite book quotes, please visit my blog, TBQ's Book Palace. I bought this book and chose to share my honest opinion. TheBookQueen

Just one look at the cover and you know this book is going to be hot.  And YES it was! This is an adult contemporary romance so there were some hot and steamy scenes, but the story of an office romance mixed with the mysterious life of Lucas Blaine kept me glued to this book.  Throughout the story I kept imagining what his real secret was (was he a secret millionaire? did he and Rory meet before?).  The story was simple but it was well written and enjoyable. And the characters were likeable and sexy!  Aurora (Rory) Clarke is intelligent and professional, and due to her last failed relationship is more cautious when it comes to men.  But that all changes when she meets sexy Lucas Blaine.  Lucas is mysterious and aggressive, but he had some sweet qualities (he sings and adores his nieces) so he was irresistible! I also enjoyed the relationship between Rory and her Dad. To the company they were colleagues but behind closed doors they were Father and Daughter. It was nice to see her Dad had respect for her and for what she's accomplished.  Rory's girlfriends Sloane, Chloe and Marisol were fun and I hope to read more about them. I also liked that this story had some funny moments, here is an example that had me laughing: "You need to do what's best for you, but remember that the needs of the many overpower the needs of the few."  Oh my God.  He was using Spock Logic on me and he probably didn't even know it. This was the first book I've read from this author and I am definitely looking forward to reading more!  I highly recommend this book for those looking for a fun and sexy read! I received an advance copy for a blog tour.

No over-the-top drama, no billionaires, no rock stars - just a girl who falls for her hot secretary. Boring? Not at all. It's funny and sweet. Lucas/Lucah is adorable. Read it. Have some "coffee" and buy some post-it notes.

I have read one other book by Chelsea Cameron, and I had no idea she was such a comedian! Sweet Surrendering was such a surprise to me. It was a sweet story punctuated by hilarious inner monologues and witty banter that kept me laughing and snorting in between rants at the MC's fits of ignorance. I love a good story that keeps me waffling back and forth between funny and frustrating. Rory is a VP at her father's company who happens to be sleeping with her new hot assistant. Lucas is complex and brash and really good at his job - er, both of them. Neither was really in a position to fall in love, but it happens anyway and complicates an already complicated situation. Now, all of a sudden, Rory's job is becoming more of a problem, as is all the secrets that Lucas continues to keep from her. For the most part, I loved Rory. She is smart and driven and not a size 2. I got the impression that she was very confident and didn't take much crap from people - especially men. She has a fantastic relationship with her parents (and what a refreshingly wonderful thing THAT is!) and with her BFF and roomie, Sloane. I love the way Chelsea Cameron painted Rory. It was like love transformed her into a caricature of herself. Someone she didn't quite recognize. And, while she delighted in it, it also pissed her off. Lucas was all snark and sass right from word one, so in the moments when we saw him vulnerable, it made me want to hold on to them and savor every word. Most of the time, he was funny and sharp, though. But, boy, is he good with his words when he uses them. Lucas' big secret wasn't that much of a secret. I figured it out pretty early, and it left me wondering what the hell Rory was doing that she couldn't see it either. I get that she was caught up in the relationship and in being in love and all that. But, really? She couldn't see that coming? Not only that, but every time she asks him to open up and talk to her about the things he was hiding. he flat out refused, and she was totally okay with that. I call BS. No woman I know in a new relationship with a guy would stand for that, no matter how good the sex is. There were elements of the story that weren't entirely believable. The pacing seemed a bit off at times too. There were times in the middle when the story stalled a bit. And, the last 15% went at lightning speed - so fast, it almost seems like we were missing something. Despite that, I was intrigued and keep engaged with the dangling carrot of when Lucas' secrets finally would come out and blow up in his face. It was good when that happened, but I felt it was resolved too quickly. I wanted Lucas to stew for awhile. Sweet Surrenderings was told only from Rory's POV. I think I would've liked to have seen Lucas' too. But, it was a good story with a good HEA. I look forward to the next book in the series - perhaps about Sloane?

As daughter of the big boss, Rory Clarke has a hard time being taken seriously as VP of the company. It doesn't matter how smart she is or how hard she works, she always makes sure that her professional demeanor is beyond reproach. But when the guy she went home with the other night for an uncharactaristic night of unbridled passion, turns up as front runner for the job as her new assistant, she has a hard time keeping her tongue off the floor. She wants to show him where the door is, but the board of directors seem gung-ho to hire him on. Stuck between a rock and a hard place, Rory decides she can do professional and keep her distance, if it appeases the board. Yeah right. Knock him over with a feather, Lucas Blaine knows he is there to do a job, but one look at who was to be his boss, and all his good intentions go out the window. He won't be able to keep his eye on the ball with this distraction, and some distraction she is.  Losing sight of all propriety, Lucas and Rory just cannot keep eyes.......and then hands off each other. But knowing fraternizing between coworkers is frowned upon, they have to be circumspect. Right. They try to keep their entanglements out of the office and merely physical, but we all know those are famous last words. Soon they are spending more time together than apart and keeping things under wraps is becoming more and more complicated. Not only that, Rory finds that Lucas is a bit of an enigma. He doesn't like talking about himself and can be very secretive at times. She is dying to find out all he is holding back....... the question is, when she finds out the truth, will she still want him? ****** What a great read!! Very unique tone in the writing...... a bit quirky, certainly humerous, but also emotional and very deliciously and descriptively sexy.  The story was also not your usual trope, which was refreshing to say the least!! For once a woman in the position of power, but it was so well done that it didn't make the man any less powerful in this book.  There wasn't a huge amount of character development, although Rory certainly loosened up some and  learned to let go of some of her need to look for constant approval. Finding she had it all the time anyway. While Lucas discovers that although money might buy you security, love is what keeps you safe. This book was well-written, by an author I would hope to see more of. ¿An edgy, animated and sexy office romp.¿ **ARC received in return for an honest review.**
