Editorial Reviews

Sister Tea
Sweet swagger is the follow up to "A Private Affair. I love the way this book starts from the exact sentence that "A Private Affair" left off. If part one is homosexuality 101 then that makes "Sweet Swagger" homosexuality 102. This book is grittier, more descriptive then its predecessor and will have you looking for more. I love the way Mr. Warren speaks directly to the reader, which leaves no room to question; what is he trying to convey to the reader.

    Guess Who's Back

As "A Private Affair" concluded, Sean Matthews stood before God, family and friends and professed his love for his best friend and fellow Army mate, Cameron. That profession is the first of a boatload of drama to follow including a stalker, hidden agendas, love, life, death and many more turns of Sean's sexual revolving door.

"Sweet Swagger" was a very quick read, though it has less of a storyline and direction of its predecessor. Again, the editing was lacking. Sean celebrated his 25th birthday in "A Private Affair," yet he was 24 at the beginning on this novel. Readers are finally given the name and age of his son Lil Man. But that only creates another problem as his age doesn't jive with the information from the previous book. I'm not even going to get started on the punctuation, or lack of. I don't mean to harp on this, but I am beyond tired of poorly edited books.

That said, I think Mike Warren has a story to tell, that there is talent there, but...he needs some help in the form of a developmental editor to strengthen his strengths and weaknesses, focus his writing and do away with the unnecessary and unrealistic. Personally, I'd like to see him revisit the "organization" in another novel. There's a lot that can be done with that.

The Gripping Tale Of A Flawed, Yet Courageous Hero

(Official Apex Reviews Rating: 3.5 Stars)

The follow-up effort to A Private Affair, his explosive debut, Sweet Swagger picks up right where author Mike Warren left off: in the tense moments immediately following Sean's declaration of love for his best friend and Army mate, Cameron. The only problem? It's Cameron's wedding day, and he's all set to marry the woman he loves - placing him in quite the difficult predicament regarding just how to respond...

Of course, nothing about Sean's life has been easy, having struggled for years with the difficulty of reconciling his private sexuality with his public persona. So, on top of all else, imagine just how tough it must be for him to stand in front of family, friends - and God Himself - and bare his soul for all to see, not to mention face the very real prospect of crushing rejection...

Last but not least, as if things couldn't get any crazier, past demons soon re-emerge on the scene - threatening not only Sean's heart, but also his very life, forcing him to draw on the deep reservoir of strength, wisdom, and craftiness within him in order to preserve his own life and keep his swagger strong...

A solid sequel to a promising debut, Sweet Swagger will surely not disappoint those who have been looking forward to the thrilling conclusion of Sean's gripping personal saga. Fast-paced and engaging, Warren's hard-charging tale will keep you turning page after page with more sex, passion, love, pain, and drama than you can probably handle. Furthermore, through Sean and his various adventures and misadventures, Warren presents the reader with the perfect flawed hero to which many of us, especially those well acquainted with the toils of emotional strife and struggle, will surely relate.

Filled with tight action and a rich cast of characters, Sweet Swagger is a highly entertaining read.
