What People Are Saying

Cecil Colwin
"The Swimming Drill Book comes closest to being the most complete package I have seen on expedients and methods for teaching and correcting stroke techniques. This practical and dedicated body of work can be adapted to the specific needs of both experienced and beginner coaches and swimmers, and it will prove to be a valuable contribution to the sport."

An excellent book for beginning or advanced swimmers, and especially coaches. It's systematic approach is useful in teaching as well as correcting technical flaws.

Becoming a masterful swimmer is a lot like becoming a black belt in martial arts. The moves are not necessarily complex, but the precision and control are what separates the better from the best. This is an excellent curriculum for teaching and correcting the technical aspects of swimming. Most of us coaches have a wide range of drills that we know and love to use. But the magic of this book is that it provides a systematic approach - much like learning martial arts - that you can teach, develop and refine stroke technique. Some of the drills are very simple. But, just as in martial arts, there is an elegance in developing mastery of the simple such that it becomes powerfully effective. Technical efficiency is the biggest bang for the buck in terms of time spent in the water, and it needs to be taught effectively. Ruben is a master teacher and has provided us with a great template for teaching MASTERY.
