Swing [Original Soundtrack]

Editorial Reviews

Barnes & Noble - David Cohen
SWING, the soundtrack to pop soulstress Lisa Stansfield's feature film acting debut, more than lives up to its title's promise. These 15 cuts - - tasty jazz and cabaret standards enhanced by four very polished Stansfield-penned tunes - - showcase the Manchester, England R&B singer stepping out in a variety of flattering settings. The sexy chanteuse simmers on steamy, big band arrangements of the Four Tops' "Baby I Need Your Lovin'," Cy Coleman's "The Best Is Yet to Come," and the Gershwins' "Our Love Is Here to Stay." Then she turns the heat all the way up on Louis Jordan's fowl-play charade "Ain't Nobody Here but Us Chickens," Kurt Weill's imperishable "Mack the ...

All Music Guide - Mark Allan
A gem of a soundtrack, sung primarily by this British soul singer. The bright, sassy arrangements are fine showcases for her confident, take-charge vocals. She's also in on the writing of five of the album's 15 songs. Veteran English singer and occasional Van Morrison collaborator Georgie Fame guests on a couple of numbers. The band includes former Bruce Springsteen saxman Clarence Clemons, who appears in the movie with Stansfield. Even if the movie stinks, there's the music to remember.
