Overview

Cassie Mae’s delightful novel answers the eternal question: What do you do when you’re head over heels for your best friend’s guy?

Ever since high school, Kayla has been crazy for gorgeous football player Talon. But before she could muster the courage to tell him, he became a hot item with her beautiful BFF, Reagan. The only person who knows Kayla’s secret is Wesley, Talon’s best bud—and he’s got it bad for Reagan. Now they’re all in college together, hanging out 24/7. For Kayla, seeing the two lovebirds together is absolutely unbearable. So Kayla and Wesley hatch a plot to drive them apart before Talon has a chance to give Reagan the Christmas gift she’s been waiting for.

Soon enough, the once happy couple is fighting. Reagan suddenly can’t get enough of Wesley’s goofy sense of humor, and Talon seems to be paying more attention to Kayla than a guy who’s “only a friend” ever should. But just when everything seems to be falling into place, Kayla and Wesley accidentally spend a night together and discover a hitch in their plan they never considered: that switching partners may not lead to a perfect ending after all.

Praise for Switched

Switched is a brilliant read that keeps you laughing, and sighing, and frustrated, and loving it!”—Rachel Schieffelbein, author of Run for the Roses

Switched was a mixture of heartfelt honesty and laugh-out-loud moments. Wesley and Kayla’s journey is one you can’t miss and will want to be on, cheering from the sidelines as they mess up and make up. I couldn’t get enough of these two.”—Theresa Paolo, author of (Never) Again

“Cassie Mae’s books have become my latest guilty pleasure. Pleasure, because who doesn’t love to read a romantic comedy? And I say guilty because when I lay my hands on one, I tend to read them in one sitting and let all my other responsibilities go to the wayside. What dishes?”—Pauline Creeden, author of Sanctuary

“Five stars . . . but as usual deserving of far more!”Le Book Squirrel

“I absolutely loved Switched. I found it cute, funny, goofy, and downright sigh-inducing.”The Shadow Realm

“I found myself smiling from ear to ear (and harboring a major craving for gummy bears . . .). I love the simple way she spells out a love story. The innocent gestures and internal dialogue cause me to sigh, or laugh, with the turn of each page.”Madison Says

“Sweet, romantic, funny, and very entertaining, Switched was a fantastic New Adult romance.”Imagine a World

“This is a cute, fun romance with lots of laughter and an adorable love story. Switched could be a chick flick, and a good one at that. If you are looking for a short, girly book to pass the time, then you’ve certainly come to the right place!”Dark Faerie Tales

Switched is a fun read and a welcome addition to the New Adult romance genre. I liked Cassie Mae’s writing and plot—it was just like reading a script for a 90s teen film, and there’s nothing wrong with that!”Wondrous Reads

When I saw this on Netgalley I requested it because I was in the mood for a really great New Adult book. Unfortunately, that is not what I got.
The characters in this one were honestly really... for lack of a better word... Dumb. They were all supposedly best friends but no one got mad at the other for trying to steal the other's significant other. Let's be real. It's 2013. There is no way this way this story would've happened in real life. Where I'm from, this almost certainly would've ended up in a fight smh And then there was the main character. She was so naive it was ridiculous. And then to make every single thing about Talon, I was really getting tired of seeing his name. I just couldn't wrap my head around the fact that she didn't have a life outside him. I mean geez, live a little.
I also didn't like the way this seemed more middle grade than new adult. When it finally came to romance the NA came out, but in the dialogue and their actions, I had to remind myself they were in college. The only thing that kept me over-looking it was the fact that at least it was a little funny. (But I gotta admit, towards the end it did get a little lame. I started rolling my eyes at EVERYTHING.
I did like Wesley though. He was really the only thing that left me wanting to read it. Even though no one else could tell, it was pretty obvious how he really felt. I'm glad he got everything he wanted in the end. Even still, this one wasn't for me.

    Good read

I was surprised at how much I enjoyed this book! From the description I thought very highschool but it kept my interest! I am a daily reader so thats says a lot. That being said, I wouldn't say this book was new adult genre at all. It read like a young adult book. For them being in college it was rather boring! The two real intimate scenes they only kissed and made out a little. Not sure the poor guy even got to second base!!! I've read many Ya books with a lot more detail and sex! Just saying! I didnt think I'd like the plot but I found it interesting! I wish Kayla & Wesley would've showed more interest in each other early on!! Yes, they wanted their best friends to break up but it was all pretty innocent. They didnt go over the top Imo!! Nothing vendictive!! I guess my best advice is......if you're writing new adult, give the characters more depth and please spice up the make out scenes! They should've kissed WAY before they did!!! Overall, it was a good and funny!! I'd recommend it. Thanks for writing!!!

    Adorable!

I read this book solely based on a recommendation by Rachel Higginson. Well, that and the fact that it sounded so good. And I was so, so glad I picked it up. Because it was good, and cute, and sweet, and funny, and I really, really like Mae's writing style. She is one heck of a witty gal and in some ways it reminds me of Higginson's. So thank you Rachel for the rec!

Now, that being said, let us talk about the book and the fun storyline. Kayla likes Talon who is dating her BFF Reagan, and then there is Wesley who likes Reagan. After a night of feeling sorry for themselves, Wesley and Kayla mastermind a plan to break the lovely couple up. Only problem is the plan may work a little too well.

Yes, the book was so funny and my heart absolutely melted. But the weird thing is, the heart melting for me didn't happen until the last half of the book. I was surprised that I didn't see the stirring between Wesley and Kayla until then. Sure, you see the flicker of something every now and then. But the big clues didn't make themselves known until much later. I really was expecting something major to happen sooner. But I found in the end I really like how it all played out.

It is hard not to like Kayla. Even if she is trying to ruin her BFF's relationship and steal her boyfriend. *lol* But trust me, she really isn't all that bad. In fact, she is doing this because she loves her and knows that everyone will be much happier in the end. At least that is what she is telling herself. And the more I got to know Wesley, the more and more I loved him. His character is such a butt, but in a good way. He is so awkwardly sexy. Yeah, let’s go with that. Because he really is. There is really no other way to explain him.

SWITCHED is a fun, adorable story that I absolutely recommend to anyone who enjoys clean’ish NA reads. (There is talk and mentioning of sex, but nothing graphic.) I plan to check out more and more of Mae's work now. 5 Awkwardly Romantic Stars!

This is a good YA book about learning the difference between a longtime crush and real love. It has a good message about the personal growth of learning to be a good friend by considering someone else's feelings and not just your own. There were a lot of things I really liked about this book. I thought the characters were well developed and the dialogue was fun. Especially between Wesley and Kayla, the two best friends "in love" with their best friend's girlfriend and boyfriend, respectively. I liked Wesley right from the start, but Kayla took awhile for me to warm up to. She was just so selfish and whiny in the beginning, but in the end that just meant she had the most room for growth and her transformation was well-written by Ms. Mae. The book started off slow to me as the relationship dynamics of the four main characters were developed, but once the story got going I was turning the pages as fast as I could to see how it would play out. There was a twist at the end that I didn't see coming and that rarely happens to me, so Ms. Mae definitely gets a high-five from me for that. Overall this was a fun read that I would rate 3.5 stars and I highly recommend it to YA fans.

*I hope you won't be put off by the 3.5 stars because the things I didn't like were more my own issues than a true lack in the writing-style or story. However, I believe my rating should reflect my personal experience and they did interfere with MY total enjoyment of the reading. For instance, it's told completely from first person POV through Kayla. I always feel a bit cheated by only getting one character's perspective. The second thing being, it's been a long time since I was 18, so I had to keep reminding myself the maturity level of the characters was probably spot on, and my age group is not the intended audience the book was being written for. But like I said having to do so took away from MY enjoyment. I'm certain a younger audience will find it much easier to relate to the characters and their motivations than I did.

**I received this ebook free from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Cute love story for the college-aged crowd

I'm quite a few years past the target audience for this book. Even so, I found myself unable to put my Nook down. I got cranky at my boyfriend for making me stop reading lol.

The story is told from a first person perspectivr, so readers who require the views from other characters may not like this. It didn't bother me, however, because much of this one is journal-style.

The story itself is told in a fresh and unique way, even if the bulk of it has been done. The characters themselves were likeable, and I enjoyed that the author made them not-so-perfect. I believe it was more realistic that way.

Overall, this one is an enjoyable read, and I highly recommend it.

Ok first before you read this you need to get some gummy bears and maybe some mint chocolate chip ice cream, trust me you will be glad you did once you start reading this book.

I truly enjoyed this book. Kayla and Wesley come up with a plan to break up their best friends who are dating so that they can date them. It may sound evil but it isn't they have their reasons, they think that they are doing something that will help everyone out in the end. This is such a sweet love story and is definitely not your typical love story, It has a love square instead of a triangle.
Kayla has had the biggest thing for Talon for years. She never said anything though and then her best friend, Reagan started dating him. Over the year of them dating the four of them grew close. Wesley and Kayla hung out to talk about their love for their best friend's significant other, that is when they hatched their plan. Kayla would talk Wesley up to Reagan and Wesley would do the same for Kayla with Talon, they would give each other insider information to help make them fall in love with them, they would get their friends to realize that they were with the wrong people. All of this would be done while everyone remains friends. You need to read it to find out if it works out or backfires.
This story had some truly hilarious moments (one that involves drool) and some moments that make you truly ache and feel for the characters.
This is going on my "will read again" list.

I actually loved reading this! I thought that maybe I might think it was okay, maybe three stars, but I actually throughly enjoyed reading the book! I actually had a hard time putting it down, because I honestly didn't want to, not once. This book had my stomach doing flips and, WOW, was Wesley swoon-worthy. Then that scene with "I Never"? Oh my gosh, it made me want Wesley so bad, why do I always fall for the guys in books?

Kayla liked Talon, Talon liked Raegan, Raegan liked Talon, Wesley liked Raegan. This made me sort of angry. I mean, what's wrong with Kayla? Why do the guys all like Raegan? I think this is because Kayla lacked self-confidence. However, this wasn't one of the characters I hated because of it, I actually like her for it. She tried to put herself out there in ways she knew to keep herself comfortable.

I laughed so much reading this book, especially with kissing scenes (if you'd read it, you know what I'm talking about)!

Overall, this was a sweet, and adorable book. I wouldn't necessarily say it is NA, more on the YA side, and I would have preferred to read more steamy scenes as well.

To be completely honest, I've been dying to read this book. I couldn't find a website that would allow me to read it for free, but as a 15 year old girl that doesn't have a lot of money and as eBooks are getting expensive i had to find another way to read it. But i found a site nonetheless and here is my review.
You could really get the entire story from reading the table of contents titles, so the ending is kinda predictable if you see the signs. This book made me laugh for how awkward the two main characters are, Wesley and Kayla took my mind away.  I read books not because  of the fact that we all know they end happily but see see how these two people come together. Even if this is predictable it is a good read.
I would have given it 5 if it included Wesley's POV and i was in dire need to know how he felt about Kayla. If your looking for a steamy sex novel this is not it. Yes, it has a few steamy make-out sessions but nothing too serious.  This book is about differing lust from love. Great read.
