Having attended, for some time, the same warm and welcoming church as both Rick Campbell and his family, as well as having been privileged to receive personal and pre-marital counseling from him, I was eager to experience Dr. Campbell's latest book, Sylmar. A captivating novel, the book reflects some of what I know to be his own life experiences, as it weaves a compassionate tale of love, loss and ultimate healing. In this story, light shines through the darkness revealed therein, while avoiding an inordinate focus on the latter. An uplifting read, I strongly recommend it as a novel that encourages the reader to look for the hidden hand of God in the day to day affairs of our brief soujourn on this planet.
