In Symphony of Secrets Hinck again tells the story in her characteristic smart and funny style. Full of clever comparisons and savvy humor, her writing is always a pleasure to read.... But all the hijinks and cleverness only veil the serious and tender undertones of this tale.... One of Symphony of Secrets' cover endorsements says, 'It's official - if the book says Sharon Hinck on the spine, I'm buying it.' I'm beginning to feel the same way. This lively tune of a tale may just win you over as well.

In Symphony of Secrets, author Sharon Hinck introduces Amy Johnson, a devoted musician and would-be concert flutist who has spent years building an insulated and comfortable, if not lavish, life for herself and her teenage daughter, Clara. Yet a dark secret about Clara's father has haunted that life in spite of Amy's efforts to wipe it from her own memory and, more important, to prevent her daughter from learning it....Though Symphony of Secrets has an element of mystery, it is primarily the story of the painful journey of a mother and daughter toward rebuilding a relationship that has rested for too long on half-truths and uneasy speculation about the past. To paraphrase an old saying, 'if relationships be the stuff of life,' then readers may find much with which to identify in this well-crafted human-interest story.

I enjoyed every page of this book.... A story of love and forgiveness and characters that will live on in your heart even after you turned the last page. I give it a very high recommendation.

Symphony of Secrets is a good story with great characters that contains two important messages. The first is that God seeks us out because He wants to help us. The second is not to make quick judgments about other people because first impressions are often misleading. Armchair Interviews says: Unique look at parental love-and human guilt.
