Meet the Author

Stephen W. Austen was born in Lafayette, Louisiana. "I was born in Lafayette and raised in New Orleans. But I truly grew-up as I travelled or lived in some thirty-four states." A Human Resources Manager, he now resides with his family in Monroe, North Carolina.

My writings and interests are eclectic. My latest series, "The Paladin Papers" are fast-paced, fact-based military/techno thrillers. Based on today's events and often set in the near future, they offer thought-provoking entertainment. They will keep you thinking long after you put them down.

"I am certain you will enjoy reading these stories as much as I did writing them. . ."

TACIT ALUMNI is a fast-paced/fact-packed story in the tradition of Tom Clancy and is the third in "The Paladin Papers" series. These fictionalized stories offer a fresh slant on today's events. It will keep you entertained, informed and thinking long after you set it down!

    The others:

"Bent Spear: Missing Missiles Over America" explores the events surrounding the six nuclear-tipped cruise missiles that "suddenly appeared" at Barksdale Air Force Base in September of 2007.
Red faces clashed with Air Force blue and the aftermath rocked the nuclear community. In fact, nuclear surety issues recently claimed the career of its fourth Wing Commander at Minot Air Force Base. It ends with a twist I think you'll enjoy, plus an alternate ending, equally thought provoking.

"ONYX OPS" starts and ends in Afghanistan, and is a fast-paced examination the geo-politics of controlling global resources and the role of black operations in these. It touches on historical facts involving World War II, the Kennedy era, Cuba and Vietnam.

Each offers a different insight on how key decisions shaping our history evolved.
