"Tagalog for Beginners" by Joi Barrios provides the best Tagalog instruction I have encountered. While living in the Philippines in the 1980's, my learning was happenstance as I was not able to find good instruction. If I'd had this resource, my years of living there would have been completely different. Now, in studying the lessons, it is a pleasure to be able to put all the bits and pieces together and to fill in all that was missing. Through reading the lessons, writing, speaking out loud and listening to the DVD, it is clear and easy to understand. And it brings back many memories of all the good times that I had!
