In a most creative book, readers are introduced to a variety of tails. Fuzzy striped tiger tails, rough scratchy tails, leathery, scaly and even feathered tails. The die cut opening on the cover exposes a few of the tails featured on the inside. The opening spread includes a large flap which, when opened, shows off a peacocks tail in its entire splendor. Some tails we learn stand up, others drag on the ground and for those that wag there is a pull-tab to make them move from left to right. Some tails swish to chase away flies others can be smelly like that of a skunk (there is a scratch and sniff spot). The final spread shows the animals with their names and a number. Throughout the book there is a variety of animal tails and opportunities for interaction through tabs, and flaps.     We Love Matthew Van Fleet in Our House!

    "Tails" is a wonderful book for young minds. Even though it is recommended for ages 3-7 years, we bought it for our 7 month old daughter, and she loves it! She loves to feel the textured pages and watch the tails wag when the tabs are pulled. The colors are of the book are vibrant and eye-catching to even the youngest of children. We read "Tails" almost every day at our house. I think the book will be a great educational tool when my daughter is pre-school age. Not only will she learn the names of many animals, she will be able to practice her counting, too! I think I enjoy "Tails" as much as she does. I love to read it to her and watch her touch the tails. I think the front cover is her favorite. It is so bright and colorful! In addition to "Tails," we also have "Dog" by Matthew Van Fleet, and it is great, but I think my daughter likes "Tails" the best! I would highly recommend this book for ages much younger than 3 years old!

    Great fun and good durability

    This is one of the best books with moving parts that I've seen. It's been a year since we got this book and my four-year-old still has fun with it. I do too. It's cute. It explores familiar and exotic animal tails. The illustrations are funny. It even has a page with a stinky tail, but my son peeled that off before I got a chance to try it out. Despite this, its overall durability is pretty good. The pages and moving parts are thick. Oh, and the last page challenges kids to go back through the book to find the different numbers of animals from one through ten. Would definitely recommend this book as a gift.

    Great book...need to buy it!

    I have two toddlers and they both enjoy listening to the story or just sitting on their own and going through each page. The illustrations and the different materials they used for the tails including tabs to pull entertain them. There are a variety of animals, some that are not seen at our zoo which broadens my children's world of animals.

    Had to have it!

    I and our grandson loved Heads so we had to get Tails. Interactive, it is a smaller book than Heads. Love the Peacock's colorful tail and he loves to feel the different textures of the animals tails. I am looking for more books by Matthew Van Fleet.

    very nice book for touching

    I bought this book for my 8 months old daughter. She loves to turn pages, touch different textures and move flip-flap parts of the book. In a few months we'll learn about animals through this book. Also there is counting lesson there.

    Wonderful!

    I read this to my grandson every time he visits. He likes all of the different textures and the push and pull pages. His favorite is the "shiney" peacock.

    Tails is a great children's book.

    This book is a delight for children and the person reading it to the child. It is one of my granddaughter's favorite books. She likes us to read it over and over. She enjoys touching the different textured tails and looking at the animals. I would definitely buy more books of this style and type.

    Good for toddlers!

    This book is great tactile fun for kids two and over. My one and a half year old loves it too, but she is able to pull out some of the moving parts.

    Fun for kids and parents!

    My daughter received this book for Christmas when she was 21 months old, and it was an instant hit. We are also fans of Matthew Van Fleet's other books, Dog and Alphabet, and Tails did not disappoint. The animals are cute, and the drawings are clever with new surprises on every page. As a parent, I appreciate that the book is filled with recognizable animals as well as a few unique ones.

    Favorite Book

    My son got this for his first birthday and has loved it!! He is now 2 and still enjoy's reading it and some of it he can do on his own. He has read it so much we actually have to replace the book.

    Nightly Favorite

    My sister gave this book to my son as a Christmas present recently. He's 19 months old, and loves it! The story is short and catchy, and its interactive 'kids can wag tails by pulling tabs'. The skunk scent is a little too authentic, so we've learned not to scratch that area too much. I even learned about some new animals, like the pangolin and bushbaby. Excellent book for toddlers! This book would make a great 1st or 2nd birthday gift.

    My 2 Year Old's FAVORITE!!!

    This book is wonderful! We actually have to force our 2-year old to let us read something else on occassion because he picks this book out every night. The book is fun, has a good rhythm, and helps with counting skills. The best thing is that it is built to last. There are several pages that contail 'wagging' tails and it is built to withstand small children tugging and playing with all the different pages.
